You can't have one without the other. The passing game works because of the running game. Gabe runs well because of the passing game/scheme. It's not like Dave is going Darryl Lamonica. He's mainly throwing passes that are short and low-risk.

 

Clyde may be contemplating an avatar name change to the very Oldguy. No love for Bob Waterfield or Sling'n Sammy Baugh??? I agree with Clyde that balance is the key to the Colonel's success. When you have Matt Snell in your backfield and Don Maynard split wide, you have to feed them both. :thumb: :thumb:

This week Rowan County seemed to want to stop the pass and so CovCath went to the run. In past weeks teams have tried to stop the run and CovCath went to the pass. You go with what the other teams are giving you and this week it was the run! Next week who knows but it's nice to run a balance offense where you can do both rather well.

 

So far this season, without counting Saturday's game, CovCath has had a total of 4316 yards of offense, 2101 yards rushing, 2215 yards passing and that ladies and gentlemen is only 11.4 yards a game difference through 10 games!

 

Now that is about as good as you can get in a team having an offensive balance and is indeed a great job from the CovCath outstanding coaching staff.

Congrats to the Colonel players and coaches. One of the most fun teams to watch in a long time. Sad we only have 4 more games to enjoy them.

Gray should be at about 1600 rushing and 2,000 total yards this season.

RC was really getting plays off fast after the RFP whistle. A few times I wasn't sure if CCH was even down in their stance.

 

You're right about that. No doubt that defending a hurry-up offense is something that will be worked on a LOT this week. If I'm Ashland and I see the tapes from the first half of Saturday's game, I run a no-huddle offense ALL DAY LONG.
