I, personally, love the fact that CovCath plays most of their games on Saturdays. It would make sense to make the earlier season games night games to avoid the La Salle game issue, but why would you totally take away that tradition? They draw a lot of people to games, many times, b/c they are the only show in town.

I don't know if having games on Saturday's draws bigger crowds. In fact, I've heard plenty of CCH faithful argue the opposite. I think either way, CovCath needs to have a day game or two just to keep the tradition alive.

I have not talked to one player, past and present who likes playing on Saturday.

Most people I talk to would love to come a watch them play, but have other thing to due on Saturdays.

Times have changed and Saturday football does not work.

Keep the Highlands game on Saturday. I think that would be cool.

Well Cov Cath's home game attendance numbers can only really be figured by comparing it to other schools' Friday night home games, seeing as all but one of the home games have been played on Saturdays...and on that basis, yeah, the attendance isn't generally as good, excepting home openers and big rivalry games like Highlands and Beechwood. There are other games that have usually been fairly well attended, like New Cath, Dixie, or the occasional home game against a GCL team, but all-in-all, I think evidence would show that attendance lacks on the average Saturday home game at Wooten. (And the numbers of the one Friday night game would obviously be skewed because of the novelty of the game, and the fact that it was a Beechwood (rivalry) game.)

That all being said, I would still say that I'm probably as big a fan as anyone out there of the Saturday games - I'm really gonna hate to see them go away. I would MOST DEFINITELY be a fan of keeping at least one, maybe two games a season on Saturday. Maybe just the homecoming game? Or one of the rivalry games? That's what I think should be done, at least.

I'm one. I could round you up a good number of others if you'd like, too :D:D

Good points. I was thinking of drawing non-CovCath fans to games.

I guess that you'll get a lot more of your Junior High players attending Friday night games instead of missing them due to their own Saturday games. That's a group of at least 65 players w/ parents making it at least 100 more per home game. I'm sure that there are a lot more w/ kids who have to miss the games due to other football, soccer, or whatever commitments. Just, Saturday games are CovCath's thing, like day games at Wrigley.
