Russell should be home for a first-round playoff game vs. a 3 seed, then most probably away at a 1. Think Belfry, maybe.

 

Not Belfry. Russell has shifted west a bit. If they win their opener (as a #2 seed) then they likely will have to travel to Garrard County for their second round game.

They should. Lewis County should face the loser of next week's Western Hills/Powell County game in the first round. Both of those teams are decent, but Lewis County should be better.

Inadvertent whistle call in the fourth quarter takes a touchdown away from Russell.

 

Bad call against LC when they advanced the ball on the botched punt. Good game, heard officials apologized to LC coaches at halftime . Russell will play better, playoffs is when we need to turn it up a notch.

Lewis has already lost to Powell 25-6 earlier this year.

Lewis County defense kept them in the game first half. Big stand in the red zone to end the first half. Offense got going in the second half. After 1st score, lewis' Mike Mustard made a huge hit forcing a fumble giving LC the ball again. Long drives and a very tough defense put the game away! Russell coaches are 1st class, and were gracious in defeat. Russell players played hard, as always. 26 years since Lewis won the district...great win boys! Keep rolling and we will take it to West Carter. That win would be for undefeated in district and EKC play!

LC has come a long way,congrats to them on the win. As the careers of our Russell seniors are winding down,I look for leadership from them to propel us into the playoffs ready to win! At least as far as I know, no Russell kid is putting out videos on youtube like the Raceland Marcus and Bubba videos. Derogatory towards women, language unacceptable in society,promoting drugs, etc. Interesting to see how Coach Maynard handles this...if at all. Maybe if it was a 2-3rd string player they would be kicked off or suspended. I bet we see him on the field when we play.

Hard not to like Lewis County. They may not have the big names that some of the other area teams do, but when they get off the bus they come to hit, block & tackle. They play hard every snap and because of this good things continue to happen for them IMO. I think they require a team's best shot because they play with so much effort.

You know, I agree that it was a stupid move by the Raceland kid, but give it a fricking rest man!! You're popping off about it over on the Raceland thread and here!! I would like to see him bench Reed, heck, I think he needs to be kicked off the team, I don't think him playing or not playing against Russell will make that big of a difference, there are other playmakers on Raceland's team to take up the slack.

How long are you going to keep harping on this? This thread is about the Lewis Co. - Russell game. Enough already....let Coach Maynard and the people in charge at Raceland deal with it. You bringing it up in every other post isn't going to factor into what they do about it. Everyone agrees that it was a stupid thing to do, but they will handle it the way they want to, regardless of how many times you post it. And what difference does it make if he plays against Russell or not? Either you can beat the Rams or you can't. If you can't beat them unless they aren't at full strength then you're not saying much for your team.
