I read alot of the posts in the forum. Seems that there has not been as much official bashing, as in the past. How has the officiating been across the state this season?

In Varsity action, haven't seen any big issues but on the Freshman level, lets just say it"s not as good. Some of these guys have done JV in the past, so I'm guessing it might be a little off on that level too.

I'm not one to bash the officials, whether they be good, bad or indifferent. Both teams have the same officials. That being said, I have seen some less than stellar officiating this season. On a couple of occasions, I thought there were poor calls made, because of poor calls made earlier in the game that kind of set the tone. I do believe the officials are giving their best though. As well, bashing the officials gets you beat up here.

What does an official get paid for each game?

I think the offciating has been worse this year, than any in the past 3 years. I don't know if it is because of the split crews. But talking with some officials that I can can friends. They think it is bad as well. There are some guys in the pool that are getting games that still need to be doing middle school games. If the KHSAA want to evaluate officials do it in the JV games.

One thing I have seen is not necessarily bad officiating but a definate decrease in experienced officiating. This is a direct coorelation of the decrease in numbers of officials. Because the number of officials has decreased significantly, people that would normally be on JV and freshman games for a year or two longer are now being assigned varsity games out of neccessity. The answer is getting more people willing to officiate. However, like 3rd grade math, I would have a hard time showing my work to get that answer.

If I'm not mistaken, they get paid $72.00 a game...

If its the same Bobby Hall that I went to MSU with in the mid-late 80's, I would never use accountable in the same sentence with his name!!! LOL I could tell some stories on him..... as could he on me. In all seriousness I'm sure Bobby is doing a great job and keep it up.

The officiating was better last year. This year has been pretty bad from what I have seen.

The games I have seen so far not good.

I have been told that in the central ky area, they have been using split crews. That has really causedvsome problems out on the field. I heard the new khsaa boss had a lot to do with it.

I won't say anything about specific calls but I was really surprised at how unprepared the crew that had the Trinity/X game seemed to be. One glaring example was the head guy in the white hat having to direct the rest of the crew how to line up under the goal posts on a field goal attempt. Just kind of surprising to see that in a game of that stature.
