October 11, 201115 yr Stern announced tonight that the first two weeks of the NBA season have been cancelled. You know what that means... lots and lots of hockey. I'm seriously bummed that the NBA won't be building on the excellent season they had last year. I'm upset with both sides of this thing at this point. What will I do without seven-foot Europeans that shoot threes? Without seven-foot Americans that can't make free throws? Without tiny point guards cutting through the forest of giant defenders to score an unlikely finger-roll (Derrick Rose I'm looking in your direction)? Without grown men doing the most absurd things imaginable for seemingly no reason other than they're rich and bored (Delonte West, I'm looking in your direction)? Mostly I'm upset that come the end of October, I won't get to see this jersey coming off the bench at the Staples Center... Metta World Peace... can't you do something about this?
October 11, 201115 yr Do they have pre season games or something? I remember looking on ticket master a week ago and it had games listed as "Cancelled".
October 11, 201115 yr I agree with HT that the season is too long to begin with. But the longer this drags along the less chance there is of a season and that will be upsetting. It really makes me mad that the sides can't realize that instead of fighting they should be building on all of the good will last season brought them. I know two guys I work with who got hooked towards the end and were ready to dive right in this year.
October 11, 201115 yr I'm kinda sad but honestly the season is to long anyway. I'm just going to miss a few of the dunks on the top then plays of SportsCenter. Other than that, the NBA just doesn't do it for me.

October 11, 201115 yr They have killed all the momentum they had from the playoffs.Yep. I was ready to have some guys at work to talk about the NBA with. Here in Lousiville it's hard to find anyone that even acknowledges it's existence.

October 11, 201115 yr The only people I feel bad for is the people who for the NBA teams such as writers, concession workers, ticket takes, janitors, etc... Not the players or the owners. Plenty of blame can be spread on both of them. They did nothing for the last 3 months and then they had these "urgent" last hour meetings lately that got nothing accomplished.

They should have locked themselves away and got this hammered out. Too many big egos were at play here, but in the end I bet both sides end up unhappy. Stupidity all around...

Stupidity all around... The players are going to have to make huge sacrifices I think. I think the owners will be happy with the deal.
October 11, 201115 yr The two sides don’t have any future meetings scheduled, but will stay in communication, Stern said. Seriously? What is wrong with you people? http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-wojnarowski_nba_cancels_games_101011
October 11, 201115 yr They finally were returning to the popularity of the Jordan days, and now they're going to kill it for good. I can't see anyway the NBA ever fully recovers from this. Fans are willing to give second chances, but this is twice in what 10-12 years the NBA has burned them? They're finished.
October 11, 201115 yr If they are on TV by Christmas day I don't think people will even know they were gone other than hardcore fans. I don't see this as a big of a disaster unless they go past that date, just my opinion of course. Rarely do you get a lot of "water cooler" buzz over October/November games.
October 11, 201115 yr The NFL rules, even bigger and longer now. Really looks bad the farther this goes.
