Fort Mitchell is a nice place , my sister used to live over there after she got married. I used to know Greater Cincy pretty well in my day. Anderson won a state championship a few yrs ago plus they had a runnerup. The Redskins are pretty mediocre this season but I bet they could beat most teams in NKY.

Sounds like Bwood and Rash are ready to rumble to BG

Beechwood ready to dominate

FORT MITCHELL – The Beechwood Tigers are once again in position to dominate Class 1A competition this year after going 5-1 in non-district games to start the season.

The Tigers started off Class 1A District 1-4 play with a 63-8 trouncing of Bellevue on Oct. 7.

It was the fourth time this year the Tigers scored more than 60 points. In many of those offensive outbursts, the Tigers came out of the locker room with a vengeance to start the second half. Big third quarters have demoralized opponents and propelled the Tigers to impressive scoring totals.

Head coach Noel Rash credits his coaching staff with making necessary adjustments on the fly during games. The staff comes into halftime with a game plan for the second half and the players respond.

“Anytime you see a team come out like that in the third quarter, you have to look at the coaching staff and see what adjustments they’re making,” Rash said. “That’s not to take anything away from the kids, because they’re the ones going out there and executing.”

The players are executing in big ways. Running backs Cameron Vocke and Max Nussbaum have each ripped off touchdown runs of over 90 yards this season, sometimes in the same quarter of the same game. Speed is an asset for the Tigers this season.

“Our offseason and in-season conditioning is paying off,” Rash said. “We are very fast. We may have never been this fast in the recent past.”

With the offensive capable of one-play scoring drives, the defense often spends more snaps on the field than the offense. The defense has done its part to get off the field, forcing turnovers and giving the offense short fields. Once the Tigers seize momentum, they rarely relent on either side of the ball.

“We can score a lot of points in a short amount of time,” Rash said. “We tell our PAT team that they’ve got to be ready at all times. That’s a good problem to have.”

The Tigers still have one of, if not the most impressive offensive lines in Class 1A. They continue to overpower opponents up front, but the Tigers have added an extra weapon this season. The skill players are unselfish and their perimeter blocking is a big key to the offense’s success.

“Our blocking on the edge is better than it’s ever been,” Rash said. “We’re still grinding it out up front, but we are much more quick and elusive at the skill positions.”

Vocke, Nussbaum, Alex Brennen, Corey Cruse, and John Cardosi take turns blocking for one another while one of them carries the ball. They push each other in practice, in film sessions, and in games.

“Our guys get geeked up about it,” Rash said. “Our staff makes a big deal out of it when we watch film, especially when the kids miss a block downfield.”

None of the players care who scores the touchdowns. Rash said Vocke and Nussbaum are usually the first players to congratulate the other when one scores a touchdown.

“We have guys getting it done everywhere and it’s fun to watch,” Rash said. “They are having fun in practice and in games.”

The next three weeks are games against District opponents. The Tigers have already defeated opponents from Classes 2A, 4A, and 6A this season. Rash and his staff make sure that there will be no letdown in Class 1A play.

“Our kids know that they can never afford to take a play off,” Rash said. “We need to keep doing the simple things – block, tackle, don’t turn the ball over – and that will put us on track to get to a state championship.”

Domination. They sound scary. Mayfield's defense sounds scary too. 20 points surrendered by the 1st team.

When you play the schedule you do, I can see why!

So who do you want them to play Spartan? They already play Beechwood usually

If BW and Mayfield meet Thanksgiving weekend the schedules will not mean a thing. The better team will prevail no matter who they played to get there.

From the article it sounds like that Rash and Bwood only see the Mayfield trip as a minor bump in the road on their way to BG

Only in your mind. If you need that, go ahead and do whatever it takes for you guys to get your hate on and get amped up for this game. Nobody in Ft. Mitchell is ignorant enough to overlook or be disrespectful of Mayfield.

Ditto. It's amazing for that perspective to be extracted from the article. Rash has probably more respect for Mayfield than anyone else in the BW staff and fan base. He has said several times, "We have to find a way to beat Mayfield."

IMO at no time did Rash say or imply anything about Mayfield. He just said what his team needs to do.

Neither Mayfield nor Beechwood players need anything to get amped when it comes to them playing each other.

Never heard what you guys are called in the 200+ episodes of Leave it to Beaver. I assume Wally Cleaver was quite the football player when he played at Mayfield.
