September 26, 201115 yr Not sure where to post this, but according to Twitter: @eaglesbuzztap: Eagles QB Vick out three-to-four weeks...bad news! I just saw a report that said he just has a bruised hand and is day to day.
September 26, 201115 yr I just saw a report that said he just has a bruised hand and is day to day. Well good thing I sighted my source, makes them wrong and not me lol.
September 26, 201115 yr Author Who knows, but without him, just like last week, you knew they weren't going to win. Kafka came in and immediately threw a pick that lead to the Giants pretty much sealing the game with another TD. After a bad first quarter, the Eagles had scored on 4 of the 6 previous drives before Vick's injury. I think it would have gone down to the wire if he'd stayed in. And 3/4 of those scores were field goals. I just hate seeing that as an excuse for Philthy. They got beat, and Vick got beat up.
September 26, 201115 yr Author The key for Philly is to make the post-season and have a healthy Vick when that time arrives. The thing is, he's started all the games this season, but has left with injuries in two that have cost them both games. And, what's worse, I think the injuries he's suffered this season have been more about bad luck than his style of play. The concussion wasn't even that hard of a hit, he just fell into his own player. I disagree with you on why he is getting injured. It has nothing to do with luck IMO. It has everything to do with a not so great O-line and wreckless play by Vick. He's been playing more like he did in Atlanta imo.

He's been playing more like he did in Atlanta imo. He hasn't been hit any more than Cutler and Matt Ryan. They're still healthy. The plays he's been injured on weren't reckless, IMO. Bad luck.

True, and their inability to score TD's (or the Giants ability to prevent them) was the difference. I'm not saying the Eagles would won, but the outcome was up in the air until he left the game. Did anyone seriously think Mike Kafka was going to bring the Eagles back? They were up 10 against Atlanta when he entered the game and I was pretty sure the Eagles would lose that one. The Eagles o-line has been a question for a while now. However, Philly has rolled the dice with Vick and he is who he is. He has to play his game or he's just another guy under center. Philly, unlike a lot of teams that get dual-threat QB's, at least seem to understand that. What good does it do you to keep a guy healthy if you're forcing him to play in a way that negates his best talent and makes him an average player at best.

Here's the numbers I can get without doing very much work. Matt Ryan - 5 total rushing attempts, 13 sacks. Jay Cutler - 4 rushing attempts, 13 sacks Mike Vick - 24 rushing attempts, 5 sacks Vick plays the game different than most QB's. Basically, he is a running back playing QB. That's the reason he's going to wear down quickly. He's going to take more hits than your average QB. And I didn't say the plays he got injured on were reckless. I said that him getting hit a lot has to do with reckless play AND poor O-line play. And I'm not sure why I spelled reckless "wreckless" in my last post .

I'm just glad to see that the "dream team" is coming back to reality .
September 26, 201115 yr People also dismiss Vick's size. He is not a traditional QB size player. Small by most QB standards. Running a lot or staying in the pocket, he has shown not to be extremely durable.

I wasn't sure which spelling was right. I went with my gut, which was "reckless". I think the biggest drawback for Vick is his size and build. Both Ryan and Cutler are bigger, thus they are built better to absorb that punishment. Vick is not a big guy, very small for an NFL QB.

I'm just glad to see that the "dream team" is coming back to reality . The point is this: Injuries are very random and despite his history, there's no guarantee Vick will get injured this year. You can't play the game to avoid injuries if it makes your guy an average player. Why even put him out there if you are going to handcuff him and negate what makes him great? You might keep him healthy, but you're guaranteeing that you aren't going to get much out of him for 16 games. At least the other way gives you a dynamic player when he's on the field. Regardless, this isn't a debate exclusive to Vick. I've seen it repeatedly with dual-threat QBs. They get drafted based on that dynamic, play-making ability with their legs, and then teams immediately try to take that away and make them a pocket-passer. It is ridiculous. Why even pick them if that's your plan? Would you draft a below average pocket-passing QB in the top 10? No way. I'm not trying to argue a point with you. I'm just ranting against this idea in general.
