Lawrence County is a better team than a lot of people give them credit. The Bulldogs are loaded. Knott County played them over the Summer and Lawrence looked like a solid team. Pikeville is by far the better team in the region. Pikeville has great pitching and some great hitters. They'll probably take the region crown. But they better watch for LC. I wouldn't overlook them.

 

I really like the Rebels of Allen Central but I just don't think they are a #2 team. Sheldon Clark is a solid top 5.

I dont know that I would call Lawrence loaded , but Lawrence does have 2 or 3 nice young players, but after Morgan Roberts their pitching drops off the table and into a deep hole. I dont really know that they will be able to put enough pitching together to be tournament effective. Randy Keeton is one of the very best out there. I thought that he was masterful in accomplishing what he did last season based really around two players, so i think he will have them competetive.

 

I look for Pikeville, Johnson Central,or Sheldon Clark to come out of the 15th, just based on pitching.

I also think Lawrence will be strong and well coached, but so is JC, Paintsville, and SC. It is a toss up among those teams. I think AC - at the beginning - will be a step ahead though. They have a nice group of seniors who have started, played together, and succeeded for a few years. They have some good pitching as well. May not be above Pikeville, but definitely on the same level as Lawrence and the others. As for P-burg, they will be very good once again, but this is the P-burg team that AC beat 18-4 in the first round of the district. AC has returned nearly their entire starting lineup, and their entire pitching staff from the end of last season.

2. Paintsville-feeder program, A lot of young talent.

3. Johnson Central-feeder program, coaching.

4. Lawrence County-coaching,

5. Allen Central-Would be higher if they had their own field.

6. Sheldon Clark-coaching

7. Besty Layne-They share allen park with Allen Central. It's hard to improve when you don't have your own field.

8. Prestonsburg-a football school which happens to have a baseball team.

9. Pike central-They looked good at times last year.

10.Belphy-At least they will have a field in 06.
