Rams....you ran into a far better football team tonight. Shake this one off, learn from it and work to get better. Things don't get any easier next week. Get ready to go to work on Monday and prepare for Pikeville.

An updates on Nethercutt would be apprecited. Prayers go out for him. Hopefully no one else was hurt from either team tonight.

Ashland has some talent, but they are still way too undisciplined, and still too soft against the run IMO. I know most of you will say they just best Lawrence County 36-16, and Raceland by 46, but I think we'll get a true measure of Ashland's defense next weekend when they play George Washington out of Charleston, WV. Ashland is not going to beat the good teams on their schedule as long as they keep committing stupid penalties. I would have to guess Ashland was whistled for 15-20 penalties tonight of the holding, illegal procedure variety.

My Rams were out matched tonight. Congrats to the tomcats. You got a very good team. IMO the best in the northeast. And a top two or three in the east. When the cats spread it out on offense. They have lots of weapons. Fast backs. Great QB with QB smarts!! He runs and throws with the best. The cat line is very aggressive on both sides of the ball. They will stick you.. Good luck the rest of the season tomcats..

I don't think people realize that Ashland is a really good team this year. This loss doesn't do anything to change the fact that Raceland is a good team, but they just aren't at the level of Ashland this year. With Johnson Central losing to PCC it looks like Ashland may have a good shot at beating them and winning that district? Maybe?

Raceland will use this to motivate themselves to get better. When you play a team that beats you like this your weaknesses are pointed out and you really can make adjustments that will help come playoff time.

What he said ^ ^ ^

I would rather win than not…but, the Tomcats committed way too many mental errors which lead to penalties. There were only fleeting moments of flow to this game because of the incessant penalties. The good news is, I believe this type of problem can be corrected if the team can collectively focus on the moment and task at hand.

The Ashland defense has potential and personnel to be very good. Offensively, it was worth the price of admission just to see Matt McLeod run the ball.

Best of luck to Raceland in their game with Pikeville. The Rams, in typical fashion, never stopped playing with heart and determination. I hope the medical attention Tyler Nethercutt was getting was only precautionary in nature and that all the players are healthy.

Very well stated Jude. Raceland IS a good team.

As for Johnson Central, that game seems galaxies away right now. Ashland will be keenly tested next Friday when George Washington comes to town. GW won their home opener against South Charleston last night I think 61 – 0. They were runner up in the state championship game a couple of years ago. It’s my understanding they are a very solid team.

:thumb::thumb: I agree on all that you have said here. Ashland, aside from everything else has the one thing that you cannot prepare for......Speed, and plenty of it. Last night Raceland was just took behind the woodshed by a better football team.

Raceland schedules teams like Ashland, LCHS, Pikeville and Russell to prepare for district play and the playoffs.
