August 31, 201115 yr Author 115-206-1 since 1991... I can name at least 20 season ticket holders from last year that let their tickets go because of Brown. And what happened last year? They won only 4 games, and looked like this team could be on the verge of going back to the horrible days of the 90's where you knew they had no chance, and didn't want to deal with that again. I really doubt that those 20 guys would have gave up their season tickets say the team had actually did well last year, and looked like this could be a good year. Which gets back to what I said, people use the Brown thing as the excuse for not going. However when it comes down to it, it's just because they don't believe they will be good. If they thought they would be good, then I bet most of them don't give up their season tickets this year, even though Brown would have been the owner still. If people think the team will be good they come, if they don't think they will be good they don't come its plain and simple. It's the exact samething with the Reds, and any sport around here. It's not must Mike Brown, people just don't come if people don't think the team will do well.
August 31, 201115 yr Found this on the Bengals website on the attendance tonight. I think that will continue right into the regular season. Take a look around Mikey Brown at your beautiful empty stadium and think why that might be. http://twitter.com/#!/Bengals/statuses/106907078198697984 Let the blackouts roll!!! It gives me a better shot of seeing more Pittsburgh games at home...

August 31, 201115 yr Author I guess they are all lying. They might even think that is the real reason, but I can almost guarntee if the Bengals did well last year and were expected to do well this year. Then those guys would not have given the tickets up, even though Mike Brown would still be the owner. Which is my point with all this, if the real reason would be Mike Brown then people would give them up ever after good years and when they expect them to be good. However we don't see that, unless people just dont have the money to afford them. If the team is expected to do well, we don't see people give up their tickets even though that same owner that they hate would still be in charge.
August 31, 201115 yr That is why me and my friend and those other 20 guys did but you know better obviously. Your logic is pretty flawed consider we all had tickets for years when they sucked and the other 20 much long than me when they sucked. Edited August 31, 201115 yr by HammerTime

Your logic is pretty flawed consider we all had tickets for years when they sucked and the other 20 much long than me when they sucked. The only way I would consider going back is if Brown would hire a legit GM. Of course we know that will not happen. I still not understand the logic with "fans only go when they're winning" argument. Even in the 2003-present time frame, that has been two seasons. Being who they are, a knowlegeable fan really shouldn't ever think they will have a winning season, realizing the two they have had are flukes. And those two flukes produced nothing in the playoffs, and came back the next season with sub par seasons, leading one to believe it was more smoke and mirrirors than a legit championship football team.
September 1, 201115 yr Author That is why me and my friend and those other 20 guys did but you know better obviously. Your logic is pretty flawed consider we all had tickets for years when they sucked and the other 20 much long than me when they sucked. Yeah they had season tickets during the horrible 90's and stuck it out. Then got to experience some success from 2003, and had two division chamionships and at least competed in the other years except last year when Palmer had been starting. Now the team is in rebuild mode, and very easily could get back to the days of the 90's if Dalton does not work out. So they don't want to go through that again, and pay money for that. Which gets back to that being because they believe the Bengals will completely suck again like the 90's. Just like I find it hard to believe that most of them would have gave up their season tickets after last season if the team had done well and say was a playoff team like people thought they would be. So your logic is flawed if you believe most of them still would have given the season tickets up if the Bengals had came off a good season, and were expected to be good this season. If they thought they were going to be good they would probably have kept them. However the majority of fans around here believe they will be horrible and as bad to watch as in the 90's so they don't want to pay to see that again. If they were suppose to be good, then I doubt the give them up even though Brown would have still been the owner.
September 1, 201115 yr Author The only way I would consider going back is if Brown would hire a legit GM. Of course we know that will not happen. You live in this city right? Just because you think people shouldn't have thought the Bengals would be good, doesn't mean people were not thinking that. From the middle of 2003 until 2008 people had high hopes for the team and went into every season believing they could do something. In 2009 people didn't think they would be good, and we started seeing some people not renew their season tickets. The team obviously ended up doing pretty good, so even though they lost a lot of season tickets before that year, they still had a lot of people come. 2010 obviously people thought they were going to be good, so people came to start the year. Once they sucked, people didn't come. I can understand if you thought they weren't going to be good, but the majority of the people around here did believe they could be in most of the years. Maybe it was just false hope people built up, because of how bad the 90's was and just was nice having a team who competed. However it was still enough to get people believing during those years, even if you weren't. You were in the minority in those years. So people did come because they believed, now people don't believe and they are not coming. It's not that complicated. When people believe they will be good they show up, when they don't believe they will be good they don't show up and we have mostly blackouts just like the 90's.
September 2, 201115 yr Record low attendance for tonight's game. Because the fans don't think they'll win.
September 3, 201115 yr Author Because the fans don't think they'll win. How is that not true? You hear the same thing I hear from all the fans around here. Everyone around here thinks they will suck and be horrible, I been hearing some people even saying they will be lucky to win a game. So do you think people will come, especially to a preseason game against the Colts when starters play one series? However I am wrong it couldn't be that. The real reason people didn't come is because people are tired of Mike Brown, so thats the real reason. I mean even if people thought the team would be good, the stadium would still be empty because Mike Brown is the owner  ....If people thought the team would be good then people would still come, even though Mike Brown would still be the owner. It's a very simple concept, and easy to see.
September 3, 201115 yr Just talked to a season ticket holder of 20+ years today said he didn't renew because he was tired of throwing his money away to Mikey.
September 3, 201115 yr Author Just talked to a season ticket holder of 20+ years today said he didn't renew because he was tired of throwing his money away to Mikey. Great, and easy to say when most people believe the team will suck. If the team was expected to do well, then I doubt after 20 years he would have given them up. With Palmer most people believed that there could be a chance, however now we see Palmer refusing to play for this team after only winning 4 games. Then also starting a rookie QB, so most people believe this team could be heading back to being as horrible as they were in the 90's. So that is what is getting people to give them up. Come on man this is pointless to continue, you know as well as I do if people thought this team could do well this year, then people like that wouldn't have given up his season tickets. He would have still got them even though Mike Brown was still the owner. The Mike Brown thing is just an excuse, peopel just don't want to come watch a team they believe will be awful. If they thought they would be good, or at least have a chance then they still come. People don't want to see a losing team. Yes the losing has a lot to do with how Mike Brown runs the team, however it all gets back to losing. From 2003 until the middle of last year people thought the team could possibly do something. That is why it sold out, now people think they will suck just like the 90's so people are not coming. So games will be blacked out just like in the 90's when people didn't either because they thought the Bengals would suck.
September 3, 201115 yr I'm not a believer in Cam at the NFL level. I'm not convinced he'll ever be ready. I can see him being an updated version of VY. Question: Have any of these dual-threat QB's who were superstars at the collegiate level ever panned out and lived up to their hype and potential anywhere outside of Philadelphia under Andy Reid's umbrella? As for the Bengals, it is going to be a long season, but if you want to focus on the positive, I really like their potential on the offensive side of the football. I think Andy Dalton could end up being the best QB of this draft class. A. J. Green has top tier superstar potential as a WR. Jerome Simpson could be a very good #2. Shipley is the ideal slot receiver. And, Gresham fits the new mold of TE, athletic playmaker. If they could get Andre Smith to live up to his draft status, they'd have the most important positions in the NFL locked up for years to come. I'm not holding my breath on him. In all fairness how many have there been? Please list them.
