Birdsfan
Congratulations Bearcats, on your 38-6 win against the Beechwood Tigers! And way to go Garret: getting another 20+ yard interception return! His second pick in as many games. :thumb: The guys looked really good out there today. Walton has a QB who can not only pass, but run and cut like a jaguar. And their running back is fast as a bullet. Good luck against Cooper, this Tuesday! :ylsuper: (Okay, somebody get me a roster -- so I can brag on all the other players too.)
Voice of Reason
Congrats to the Bearcats on the win. It is likely going to be a roller coast season for Beechwood. When they face the teams with eighth graders playing, Beechwood will struggle. When they play against 7th grade teams, they will be ok. At least that is the way it looks after the games and scrimmages played so far.
Birdsfan
Beechwood didn't look bad at all! They have at least one little runner who is amazingly good and elusive.

They are just a little small and that shows up when they play the older age teams. That extra year means a lot in the middle school years. Coach Culp has done a great job building a first year team.program.
Birdsfan
And the crowd was huge for both teams. Great turnout for a middle school game. For that matter, even for a varsity game at some schools. Were you there VoR?

NEERFAN
Was this 8th grade? I play ball with a man who's son is supposed to be a pretty good RB for WV. I know first hand the kid passes the eye test and he's strong as an ox.

He was carrying two or three with him on some plays.
Birdsfan
Is that Mescher?I don't know. Tiny little kid though. Probably one of the 6th graders.

He was carrying two or three with him on some plays. It has to be him. He held his own strength wise against me and I'm not small. The kid's dad is 55 years old and is a warrior on the basketball courts, I can't stand it when he ends up guarding me since he's so physical. Birdsfan
The Bearcats tallied up another big win tonight, beating the Cooper Jags 20-6! Walton-Verona got some awesome runs by Robert Lyle, Jared Poore and several other players to seal the deal. Lyle is amazing -- runs like a bullet, and just bulls his way through a crowd to get the extra yards. Also saw some big time plays by Tyler Townsend, Garret Lehkamp, Halsey Page, Nick Carter and many more. These guys are going to be fun to watch over the next several years. The Bearcats will take their perfect 4-0 record into this Saturday's battle with Bowling M.S. in Owenton.
Weakside
Daniel West also played a great game for Walton-Verona vs. Cooper Jags. He had some great stops in the back field and it was difficult for Cooper's line to handle Daniel. He did a great job on the defensive side of the ball. Birdsfan
Was this Cooper's 7th grade team? Not sure. They had some smaller kids who got to scrimmage some of our players after the regular game. Does Cooper (and some others) split it's middle school team because they have such a large student population? Just curious.
