I can't take any list seriously with Griffey above Ruth, Aaron, or Bonds.
August 16, 201115 yr Wow, that is tough. Thome and Sosa I know would bring up the rear (may reverse the order) but that is about all I can commit to.

Willie Mays (Did it all well) 4. Jr. (Did it clean) 5. Hank Aaron (Consistency and class) 6. Jim Thome (Maybe a victim of his era but I believe he's clean) 7. Arod (Dirty, PED user his whole career IMO) 8. Sammy Sosa (He was a Cub most of the time and Dirty) That's how I'd rank them for what it's worth.

Griffey (22 Seasons): 1662 R, 630 HR, 1836 RBI, 184 SB, 0.284 BA, 0.370 OBP, 0.538 SLG, 0.907 OPS, and 78.5 WAR. Aaron (23 Seasons): 2174 R, 755 HR, 2297 RBI, 240 SB, 0.305 BA, 0.374 OBP, 0.555 SLG, 0.928 OPS, and 141.6 WAR. Not very close...

Doesn't it make sense to at least consider the fact Ruth didn't have to play against many of the best players of his era?

While I would agree that I would take Aaron over Griffey Jr...I think you'll have a more accurate comparsion if you compared it by games played. Griffey's numbers got dampered by his injuries in the later half of his career.
