I look for this to be a tough opener for the Cards. Greenwood lost 5 very close games last year to very good teams. I know Greenwood has a big strong QB who can run and throw and they run from multiple sets. This game is in Bowling Green so Mayfield has a long road trip. I like to think we will win this contest but now that the real games are about to start it's time to see how the new starters will perform.

Who are the new starters? I don't know much about the teams or players in your area, could you give us a overview? Thanks.

Also I added a poll.

Watched a little video on Greenwood and they look like a very good team. Nice size and decent speed. It will be a tough matchup for the 1A cards vs the 5A Gators.

Greenwood is an up and coming program. There enrollment is growing at a rapid pace. They are currently a 5a school, but, if it went by this years enrollment only and not a 2 yr average, they'd be in the top half of the 6a schools. They started out strong last year, but, then kinda fell apart in the 2nd half of the year. I think they have quite abit returning from last year, so, I expect it to be a tough game for the Cards, but, I think they'll pull it out with some big plays and a stout defense. I think it'll be something along the lines of 24-14.

Dont know much about either team but have seen Mayfield a couple times last year, based on that I will take the Cards! Good Luck to both.

Actually, Greenwood just split, forming another school, South Warren. Their current enrollment is 5A.

Its my understanding that last year they got to keep their seniors but not the underclassmen. Watchin film on them and the qb is a stud who will give us fits

Anyone who wanted to stay last year to play football had the option because South Warren did not offer the sport at the varsity level. I'm not sure how that worked this year.

Witthuhn is a pretty good player. Very tough to bring down and a strong arm. Offensively, Greenwood returned a lot of their weapons from last year. They suffered quite a few losses on the line though, and apparently aren't as strong there this year. The defense looked pretty good against Daviess County in the scrimmage despite losing much more on that side of the ball. We'll see how they do against a team that's 180 degrees in the other direction.

Geez TP...you guy's are the biggest sandbaggers on this board. You'll blow this team out and then say "wow, we're so surprised" :)

Crunch, how quickly you forgot the flood of 2011, you never know when the next flood will hit so always have those sandbags ready. Seriously, this qb is the real deal, he will cause us fits. Greenwood will be a test of our youth

Need stadium info. Is stadium very big seating and parking wise?

I like Mayfield but could see Greenwood giving them a good game. Greenwood will be very physical and their QB is legit. He is very crafty with above average arm and likes to lower his shoulder. Team speed usually wins most games so I look for Mayfield making more big plays at the end.

Pretty much no on both counts. The visitor's side is not gigantic by any means, though I have my doubts about how large the crowd that will be over there will be. Depends on how well Mayfield travels. The best parking lot is in between the stadium and school, and it'll fill up pretty quickly. I've never been to a game there where people weren't parking in grass across from the stadium, or in a parking lot in front of the school which would add 100-150 yards or so to your walk. You can also park at the middle school which is across from the baseball field, which would be a shorter walk than in the front.

I can't figure out how to link an exact location in Google Maps, but go there (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=ll) and search for: GREENWOOD HIGH SCHOOL, Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, KY. It has a pretty recent aerial photo of the area with good detail. You can zoom in, and if you scroll down from that marker which is in the parking lot in front of the school, you'll see what I'm talking about.
