Why do we always blame others for the childish and immature behavior of adults? That is as simple as I can make it. Supposedly the officiating was bad, okay, and? Trust me it was a good weekend there was some very good officials here that you see every Tuesday and Friday night.

I don't think anyone was blaming anyone for anything! Yes coaches do tend to get out of control at times! People do not like to hear the truth and if you are a bad official then find something else to do! There are SOME officials who go onto the floor or field with a chip on their shoulder and just look for a reason to toss a coach. I believe every coach should have to officiate a certain number of games to realize its not as easy as it looks. Most of the refs at the KBA did an admirable job, But there was those who didn't. When fouls are 25-4 someone is not doing their job.

A couple of years ago we had a game and the trips to the line was 37 for the other team, and 4 for us! I THINK this is the number, it may have been higher for the other team, I have the book put away somewhere though if I wanted to check. But, you know what? The refs called a good game! They called every foul! All of our fouls were fouls, it's just the other team wasn't committing them!

That may be true in some instances but more often than not I blame the refs when there is a foul disparity that large. Some teams or players may be more slick when committing fouls but in 99% of the games I have attended you can call a foul on every play whether it is hand checking, over the back, blocking/charge, jockeying for position in the paint or even the old fashioned foul them while player attempts a shot. Sometimes refs should call the fouls as they see them instead of saying...'clean that up' or 'that's enough'....which are two phrases I heard often last weekend. Put me in the camp that finds it hard to believe that fouls being 25-4 or 37-4 is a properly called game. I'd have to see it to believe it.

The reffing nonsense began when people started talking about some coach's behavior last weekend because of the refereeing. When referee training is going on during a tournament and it is affecting the quality of play I think it is a valid discussion whether it is June or not.

Let me also be clear, I never have nor will I ever blame a loss on the officials. It is never the officials fault. I will also point out when it seems like my team gets all of the calls as I will when my team isn't getting any calls.

 

I say slick when committing fouls because some kids have mastered the art of the of the push off and the chicken wing. That is what I mean by that. If the refs never call it you can watch a point guard use those tactics a whole game thus the words slick when committing fouls. I see 3-5 blatant push offs a game at the point guard position that go uncalled. I also see some push offs incorrectly called.

 

The block/charge is the hardest call to make in real time. That call can change the momentum of the game. As a Duke fan I can appreciate the art of flopping when done correctly.

You are exactly right! If an advantage is gained then it is a foul. No matter what end of the floor its on!

That is a question I don't have an answer for. To be honest I don't see a foul disparity like that more than once, maybe twice a year. I really just chalk it up as part of the game.

 

I actually don't have many issues for the 12th region refs. They have very consistent calling the push off in our region.

 

 

A lot of talk on the refs in this thread centers around the new referees in training at KBA during this tourney. And they were uh.......new.

So what does Scott County's win here and Moore's win at DS tell us if anything for next year. I realize Ballard, Trinity and a few others weren't at either of these and they have to be near the top of next years favorites. Who else would you put up there. My picks are Ballard, Trinity, SC, Central, PRP, MC, PCC, and Moore. I am not from Ky., so don't bash me if I am way off base lol.
