I should be there for a short time on Thursday before I head over the the KHSAA baseball tourney, as well as on Friday, as I am looking for a couple more players for our July team.

I just hope they get somebody in there quickyl because the manner in which the coaches acted during the SL vs. Dunbar game was emabarrassing, especially for a championship program.

I agree! At most schools that would get you fired! And after the one being told to leave and refusing, then needing security called to the court.

There were several.......I heard one fan say he has been coming to the kba state in june for several years now and they are two guarantees...first is no air conditioning and second is terrible officiating. I do know that in the South Laurel - Dunbar game that the foul count was 39-13.......still you have to restrain from crossing that line and acting that way as a player and coach. Just to clarify, it was one of the summer ball asst coaches that was ejected.

I'd like to see more focus on the games and less on the referee clinic that seems to take place. A lot of the refs calling the game are new referees and tend to make some pretty bad calls or they call every single thing they see in an attempt to please their trainer. Our coach received two technicals and was 'ejected' and security came to escort him from the area. He refused at first and when security came he went to the tourney director who overruled the 'ejection' and allowed him to continue coaching. During his 'ejection' the refs were huddled in a corner with their trainer for a least 5 minutes while no one was playing. Our coach was asking them over and over 'can we play ball' and 'play' while they huddled in a corner with their trainer. After the game our coach and players still have no idea what he said to warrant one technical let alone two.

 

No. I am not with South Laurel either. There was plenty of bad refereeing and befuddling situations going around. I still thoroughly enjoyed my time at KBA.

I will have to reply on a few of these comments. The temperature in these large multipupose buildings and I have been to several seem to heat up around one in the afternoon. It starts nice and cool and when it fills with people it gets warmer. AC does work...Sunday was very nice. My take on the Referree camp. There are some problems with many camps I see like this and there are alot of good things done also. There always seem to be a few refs that try to overstep their boundaries as do a few coaches that try to bully the greener refs. I am thankul there are camps like this. I can only imagine if there were no camps to make officials better. This is summer ball its about getting better for both. We make this tournament very affordable. It was a fun four days. Only one no show. With over 60 Varsity and JV squads you are gonna have a few problems. I hope that South Laurel can make the call soon. There seems to be alot of politics involved in this decision.

Glad to see our 10th region rival Montgomery Co do so well in this tourney!!!

Words can not describe how bad the officiating was! I saw 3 ejections on Saturday 2 coaches and 1 fan. The fan should have been thrown out, the coaches on the other hand was a different story. The refs let things get way out of hand and were unable to clean it up. The majority of the officials did a decent job but there were 4 that had no business trying to officiate,and these were the ones that did the ejecting. They weren't focused on the games, they seamed to worry more what the coaches and fans were saying. I officiate in another sport and realize this is a thankless job but these guys and lady were very unprofessional!
