I can't say I've ever been irritated from the other side of the field. I can only think of once or twice where one might question him on calls during a blowout game but that happens to a lot of coaches.

 

Anyway, back to the game discussion.....

Were there no Kids from Beechwood in the game last night?

 

I believe there were 3 Beechwood players there - Thoerner (OL), Burns (WR) and Schmidt (LB). Beechwood had a small senior class and only a few seniors started last year.

Not sure what went on in the Ryle camp but sounds like the Highlands camp was better prepared and took advantage of an opportunity and did absolutely nothing wrong as always other then maybe hurt someones feelings. On a side note I was talking to some of the CovCath kids and they loved Dale and thought he was AWESOME. LOL.

 

I saw no signs that the Highlands camp was better prepared. I also have no problems with 8-10 Highlands players as I'm sure they filled spots not taken by other teams. I consider the Highlands players good football players like the other kids on both teams. Football hinges on playmakers when all things are equal at the line of scrimmage, which they were in this game. Kremer was by far the best QB in that he did not throw prayers up in the air and Connelley on O and Ritter on D were outstanding. It was not the Birds players or coaching staff that made the difference. It was key playmakers and 6 INT's vs. 2 INTS' - plain and simple - was the difference in what I thought was an entertaining game. Mullens and Bradley were definitely the 2 best backs on the field. To allude that the difference in the game was the "superior" Highlands staff is ludicrous.

Coaching isn't a huge part in these games but it does matter, I mean last year there were at the minimum just as many good athletes and the score was what 6-0 East? This year was HHS and Ryle last year as Dayton and Ludlow, it is pretty clear why this game was so exciting. I really liked how both teams slung it around and made it fun to watch. :thumb:

And I am happy to report that those young men are doing well in therapy and should be de-programmed by the end of next week.

 

Seriously though, it was a positive experience for all the kids I spoke to. They enjoyed working with the kids from other schools and making new friends. They were all very complimentary of the coaching staff.

On the way out, someone pointed out that three of the East's four TD's were scored by future Georgetown Tigers. Odom, Slabaugh, and Connelly.

 

That's gotta make the G'town coaches smile.
