Louisville Magic dominates 15s at State AAU

In his first year with an AAU program, former Louisville star Ellis Myles put together a stellar 15-year-old team called the Louisville Magic.

And the Magic did a number on the rest of the state.

The Magic won the 15s title at the State AAU Tournament in Lexington on Sunday with a 92-65 win in the title game against Charlotte Court. Myles and assistant coach - former U of L star Tony Williams - had seven players on the roster this weekend.

There are no MVP awards at AAU events but I decided to throw a few names out there after this weekend’s action.

Several players from the Louisville Magic that could have earned MVP honors from the team’s win in the State AAU Tournament 15s division.

But I will go with Central’s D’Angelo Russell.

I called it last week that the 6-foot-3 Russell has improved a ton since the end of the season and he proved again this weekend that he’s one of the best players in the state of Kentucky - regardless of class.

Russell is hearing a ton from colleges and is a high-major kid. He scored 28 and 25 in games this weekend and had 20 or more in five games, including several games with three or more three-pointers.

He’s big-time.

A close second to Henry Clay’s Trey Grundy on the MVP honors, while Ballard’s Quentin Snider is special and played a lot better this weekend. Darion Burns of Fleming County carried Charlotte Court in the title game.

The Ville(16U) was another fun team to watch. With Hicks and Prewitt together they were just too tough this weekend. Great combo and they are complemented well by the rest of their team. That team was put together well.

I agree! Players and parents on this team put time and effort into the team.

Crons 16U is a Very nice group. My son was going to tryout but decided not to at last minute. I would have like to see him playing with this group. Nice mix of athletes from 8th, 9th and 10th.

Anyone have a roster for 16U the Ville ?
