Credit Card and personal information was obtained by a hacker

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/04/26/update-on-playstation-network-and-qriocity/

Although we are still investigating the details of this incident, we believe that an unauthorized person has obtained the following information that you provided: name, address (city, state, zip), country, email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login, and handle/PSN online ID. It is also possible that your profile data, including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip), and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have been obtained. While there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained.

Makes you wonder if Xbox live is the next target, or have they all ready been targetted and not breached. Perhaps in a dark ploy microsoft paid some hackers to do this, maybe it was Nintendo, hmmmm I love me a good conspiracy theory with some corporate espionage sprinkled in.

I have both, and like my PS3 better, BUT, Xbox is always running deals and I just got a full year for $34.99.

I also did the same thing but when you bought it you were also agreeing to pay for an annual renewal subscription at full price so you'll have to call and cancel if you want it stopped. Just saying...

This incident will lead to Sony charging for online play. They will justify it by saying they need the added revenue to pay for the additional security to prevent this from happening again.

I doubt it.

Which part and why?

Which part and why?

They have been so adamant about not charging for it I just dont think they will do that. They already have their premium susbscription part of it, I'm thinking thats all that will remain.

XBOX RULES!!! :D

I might agree if I didn't have THREE 360's die.

Btw, I think the biggest issue is that Sony waited so long to admit information was compromised. I still haven't received any email or anything from them, which IMO is ridiculous.

They have said they aren't sending any emails due to being compromised so if you do receive an email from Sony they are saying that it isn't a legit email.

I can't believe it is not fixed yet!

That's kind of stupid IMO. There are other ways around it. They could contact people and make them aware of what happened. They waited too long to announce this, and that IMO is their biggest screw up.

Without a doubt. They have handled this very poorly from day one. I wish I could sign up for some kind of text message alert telling me the network is back up.
