Looks like Durant can carry that torch for the next generation. I don't see the comparison with Duncan at all. Durant is by far more fun to watch. Not saying anyone is right or wrong in this because you can dislike whoever you want but I think Durant is wayyyyy more likable than Duncan. I get that feeling among the majority of NBA fans too.
April 29, 201115 yr Nobody ever leaves a team after their first 3 year contract is up. I think Boozer may the the only above average player to do so and Cleveland decided to let him go to Utah. OKC wasn't going to let Durant go just like Miami, Cleveland and Denver wasn't letting Wade, LeBron or Melo go after 3 years. Much ado about nothing. Durant was never going anywhere. Everybody re-signs with their original team after their first contract. And OKC wouldn't let him go anyways. They re-signed him a year early to let him know they will take care of him and to let him know he isn't going anywhere. And Westbrook will likely do the same this summer or whenever the lockout isn't affecting signings if he hasn't already. You guys are failing to mention the length of the extension he signed. It wasn't a two year deal with an option for a third, or a three with an option for four, Durant agreed to five years. Pretty big commitment IMO, especially to a young team in one of the smallest markets in the league and even more so when you are going to be looked at as one of the biggest super stars in the league. Most guys in the same situation might have stayed for a couple more years but they would def bounce to a bigger market once the opportunity arose, heck even Lebron did it. To me, it seems as if Durant is in it for the long run and you guys can undermind that if you want but its obvious he is highly committed to Oklahoma City.

He said Russell Westbrook hogging the ball and hoisting up 30 shots including a three that bricked at the end of the game when he(Durant) was 5-6 from three didn't bother him and was the right thing(Westbrook's brick and going 12-30 overall) to do. That's a bold faced lie. He sure didn't let Russell shoot them back in the game the other night.

The Heat have playoff and title experience though. I'd rather Wade be my leader than Kendrick Perkins. Plus the Heat have an offseason to get better. Theoretically they should be even better next year. Bosh will still be soft though. I also think Westbrook can end up being a head case in OKC. He'd be easy to talk trash and get into his head. After he misses a shot start telling him he is shooting too much. OKC is young and talented but they just won their first playoff series. I don't see them leaping to multiple championship winners.

I'm still not sure too many players would have pledged their allegiance to Oklahoma City, especially when they are one of the fastest rising players in the league and could have sought better opportunities elsewhere. Not a huge deal he resigned but the fact that he did and the way he went about it said a lot to me anyway. But Durant got Westbrook. If you're going to use South Beach as an excuse you have to mention that. Once again no one has left early, and part of the early opt out with the last free agents had to be because of the CBA ending after this season. Durant will probably stay in OKC because they've drafted well, but to act like he's different than the rest of the guys because the way he signed last year is an absolute joke. The length of his extension had nothing to do with the fact he's on an extremely talented young team and the CBA is getting ready to expire so therefore he gets the most money possible now? I'd like it because it would reward the teams with the best records. Not that it would do that this year, I think LA would rather play Dallas than Memphis.
