REDS opening day

Told him this morning. It was priceless. He didn't believe me at first. Then when he realized I was serious he lit up like a Christmas Tree. Funny seeing a 69 year old man look like a little kid trying to hold back a big grin! Thank you guys for your input on here. I think we'll probably try to get up early. Park in KY maybe eat there. Head on over to the field early to enjoy the atmosphere. I think we'll more than likely skip the parade and all the walking.

Does anyone know if they sell a certain number of standing room only tickets on the day of the game? For some reason I thought that they sold somewhere around 3,000 or so tickets the day of the game or was this what people camped out for on Fountain Square a few weeks ago?

Anyone know who is starting for the Brewers Thursday? Is it Gallardo?

I've said on here before some of my best childhood memories were playing in the back yard as a kid while dad worked around in his shop etc and we listened to Marty and Joe about every night. He's a diehard watch the Reds every night kind of guy. So much so my mom finally gave in about 3 years ago and watches them about every night too lol. He's a year away from 70 (blows my mind and I hope I look that good at that age). He doesn't know it yet but I bought us opening day tickets for Thurs. He's going to be estatic!

I haven't been to opening day since we drove up when I was a kid. Any ideas on what time to get there. Best place to park opening day (KY and if so walk or shuttle). Any great events to check out. I saw the parade starts around 11ish. Where's the best place to slide in and watch it or is it worth it? How far is that from the stadium. I also saw where you can get in the gates around 11:40 I think it was so you could see a good bit of Reds batting practice. How far is the Hall of Fame musem and is it worth it?

Thanks for all your help! I'm so excited to make the 3+hr drive one more time while we're both healthy!

Great post and memories Stick! Your post took me back to when I was young, before all the cable and not alot of games were on like they are now. I would sit on the porch listening to the games on radio, hanging on every pitch. At times I would turn the radio down in m room at night and llisten to the west coast games late when everyone was asleep. Marty and Joe, the Reds on radio were great.I would love to be able to see a game in GAB, that would make mebe able to say that I have saw a game in all the Reds parks.....Crosley, Riverfront and the new one.

I also love the way you are going to take your dad, those are times that you don't get back. :thumb:

I'm on board!!!!!:ylsuper:

Haven't decided if we are going to park at Hooters or The Levee. If we park at the Levee is there anywhere good there too eat or will it be so crowded it's not worth it?

I like a few places on the Levee, Dewey's Pizza, Claddagh Irish Pub, and Bar Louie, and Arnie's across the street from the Levee. And of course the Hofbrau Haus, not sure what time they open.

Arnie's has a shuttle to the ball park, not sure if it's just theirs or if anyone can hop on.

WOW!! Today was a great reminder for me that it's easy to get caught up in work/life and not just say the heck with it sometimes. Didn't really have the cash and took off a day of work but MAN was it worth it! Nothing will ever take the memories dad and I had today! What an awesome ballgame and great way to start the season! Thank you all for all the input. Dad will be 70 next year and of all the games we've been too this was right up there with Johnny Bench Night + 87 All Star Game. Just awesome!
