But they allow him to rule the roost from the comments on here. When an assistant is forced on a head coach and he is allowed to coach whatever he wants, it makes for a bad situation for the team and coaching staff. To top it off he is being disloyal to the head coach, by putting down what he is trying to accomplish. If I was the head coach he would be relieved of his duties immediately.

This is true He gets whatever he wants up there.

Ive just heard from an extremely reliable source deep with in the bowels of the SV political machine that this "Unamed Person" was getting the SV job. Dont even get me started on this "Unamed" idiot.

Are you talkin about the unamed possible Virginian, or the unnamed assistant that wields so much power??

The GOB network strikes again.

I guess we can congradulate Greg, then! Hope he brings enough holdbacks with him that are ready to play, because from what I hear, there will be a lot of boys leaving the team. Way to go Forestdale! Buddies win out!

Wow...Wait a second guys...

If Coach Hampton doesn't get the nod he should stay on staff.......

Man.....This happened at Ashland a few years back and I don't think anybody is disappointed with the hire.

Let's see who puts their name in the hat and SV should go with that

I played for many coaches over the past years at Shelby Valley. As an Alumnists of Shelby Valley and a former football player I have never played under a better staff than Coach Hampton, Osborn, and Damron. As for Hamptons first year he has done better than what a lot of coaches could, with being named head coach not long before the football season. I, personally have not played under a better group of coaches, Coach Hampton gives motivation, a real asset as a coach. Coach Osborne gives confidence that players need. Coach Damron gives a father liek relationship upon which a player does not want to disappoint. This chemistry of coaches is an excellent combination. IMO they need to be given a couple of years to see what they can build the program into. I was there to witness politics and IMO i dont think that the politics will be able to stay if those coaches stay.

I applauded you insight "Herosofthegame" on the situation. But sadly enough politics will not leave Pike County when it deals with athletics or basiclly in our childrens education. This could be a story line for the "Good Old Boy Syndrome."

I have met Coach Hampton and found him the making of a very good coach. Under the situation he took over the job he did a heck of a job with the program. Coach Hampton had plans to improve his team by implementing a new program next season that would have only increased his player speed, strength, aggression and agility. But many have used this following quoted to signify what athletics are in Pike County. "If its not round and don't bounce it doesn't count!"

It is amazing to me that the "Powers to Be" can not see that athletics at any school should support one another. The best example is Belfry. A success story that took years to develop, not just over night. Look at the success of these programs: Football, Basketball, Track, Volleyball, and Baseball. Not just a one mind set of athletics. But an overall developement of success that is known state wide.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again that his community should be ashamed of tiself for letting another good coach and possibly some more good players go out of the community. But I guess I shouldnt complain. Let them come to Pikeville and well keep taking all these players that SV runs off because they dont play the 'in' sport and arent in the 'in' crowd.

Any word from the Valley?
