Nevels would be a good choice. He appears to have high energy, knowledge, and passion.

BTW, more than changing the head coach on the football staff is needed to fix Lloyd. If you guys that are posting are from Erlanger, then you should know to what I am referring. If you don't, then you shouldn't be so adamant with what you opine. Such strong opinions without the facts make people less credible. JMO

Why are you so down on the existing coaches? I realize that maybe a change is due but to assume that the current assistant's are not a viable option to replace Coach Lucas is absurd. Just because they were under Roy doesn't mean they wouldn't/couldn't do a good job.

 

Roy Lucas is a good coach, it was his assistants that were bad. I have faulted Roy for surrounding himself with bad coaches, so in my opinion none would be a viable option.

I don't know anything about Shear but something doesn't seem right about the situation with him and the Bellevue gig. This may not be fair to say, but I think I may shy away from someone that was only at a school for one year. Like I said, something just doesn't seem 'right'.

Coach, it is always nice to hear the story from the most reliable source. It stops a lot of random speculation. As to making mistakes and learning from them, that is what happens with most successful people. Bill Belichick has had a little more success since his first gig.

You are welcome VOR. Bellevue administration was nice enough to let me know early so that I could look for another teaching and coaching position while a lot of jobs were open. With core content subjects being pushed into the limelight because of test scores and the need for remediation there will be a lot of other non core content teachers in my situation this summer. It is unfortunate but a reality of being a non tenured teacher. I will admit that I made mistakes as a first time head coach but nothing that happend on or off the field led to Bellevue's decision. It was all about the teaching position. As we know teaching pays the bills and coaching is something I do for the love of the game.

If I offended you in any manner, that was not my intent. I apoligize to you. By me saying 'something didn't seem right', would fall into the classification of a job being discontinued, in my book. I, in no way, was saying anything about your coaching, teaching, or how you ran your program. I saw your teams play 2 or 3 times and have never met you; therefore, I can't go down that road.

There are alot of reason kids leave, perception of a bad program is one. A bad enviroment at the school could be another. My point is Lloyd has had proven success by going out and hiring a coach from outside the program. Mike Key was hired from Berea and he is doing a great job. He has started elementary school teams and Lloyd now hosts one of the best Christmas basketball tournaments around, all things that were not done by the previous coach! Basketball number keep going up. Ironically enough, Coach Key as the athletic director, has a great opportunity to give this program a new face and energy that hopefully will excite the players, students, parents and community.

Neverwrong do you have an axe to grind with the current Lloyd coaching staff? JD
