February 24, 201115 yr Author I found Gomes's explanation to be sincere. Agreed. Even if he is happy about it I doubt he would openly celebrate a spring injury in front of reporters.
February 24, 201115 yr Tough start for the Red Birds, one guy wanting 3 pitchers salaries, and their second best pitcher going down before spring training game one.

February 24, 201115 yr I'm interested to see the approach the Cards FO takes from here. I found it interesting that Mark Buehrle (who has said before he wants to play for the Cardinals at some point in his career) said he would wave his no trade clause if the White Sox would want to change him. This just happens to come out the day Waino goes down. I'm not sure what the White Sox would want in return, or why they would even trade him considering their in the thick of things, but interesting no the less.

I'm sure every team is happy that a star goes out if it improves their chances of being successful. I think is more the media, actually Hal McCoy, trying to start up a rivalry by himself. If I were the Reds I wouldn't let that guy in their clubhouse anymore.

Happy that they don't have to play against him possibly, but I seriously doubt most players are happy with any player having a major injury.

March 1, 201115 yr Chris Carpenter and Mitch Boggs have both left today's spring training game with injuries.
March 1, 201115 yr Chris Carpenter and Mitch Boggs have both left today's spring training game with injuries. Darn.
March 1, 201115 yr Carpenter has a left hamstring strain. Boggs has a lower back strain. Serious. I don't know how long of a recovery those type of injuries need to heal. Any chance it could push Carp off of Opening Day?
March 1, 201115 yr I don't know how long of a recovery those type of injuries need to heal. Any chance it could push Carp off of Opening Day? Just depends how serious it is. I heard about these on twitter and the person who reported said Carpenter came out just to be safe. So that doesn't sound very serious to me, but you never know with these types of injuries. They could stay around the whole season if he doesn't let it heal 100%
