George Rogers Clark 71 Lexington Catholic 63

Good win for a talented and experienced team. The refs and gym were being attacked before the game started. The refs are attacked after the game. Why can't you be gracious and congratulate both teams for a well played game. I guess the only reason Lex Cath stayed in the game was because of the refs and the "lucky" shots they made. Give Lex Cath credit for coming back when they were on the verge of being blown out. There were some clutch shots made in the last few minutes that made the game interesting. Oh, that's right, it was all the refs and lucky shots!

The officials were great and a three point bank shot is not luck, get real.

But it only counts if you call it... :thumb:

And Don't forget the old gym, that had alot to do with it also, some of comments in earlier post talk like just because GRC was the opponent, everything else that goes on at Lex Cath should stop for the game.

I for one thought the old gym was an OK venue. I did find it a bit much that in order to go to the restroom all the GRC fans had to walk literally in front of the Lexington Catholic bench. I tought about stopping and joining the huddle but thought better of it. Of course winning helped, but all in all it was a neat experience.

yea Lex Cath pays the refs more for there home games, thats how they get all the calls, and GRC didn't make any lucky shots in the game, come on. It sounds like it was a great High School game between 2 very good teams.

If there is one thing that makes my blood boil this is it .Why are newspaper reporters elsewhere in the Commonwealth allowed to be so lazy that they do not use a schools proper name when reporting on them .They are Lexington Catholic not Catholic would you just call Clark Co just Co ? No ! Use the proper name . This does not happen here in Northern Kentucky and it shouldn't happen in the rest of the Commonwealth http://www.kentucky.com/2011/02/02/1619915/clark-county-boys-outduel-lexington.html#more#ixzz1CnlGhEgJ

Everybody in central kentucky calls Lexington Catholic either Lex Cath or Catholic. And as for Clark County, the name of the school is George Rogers Clark High School. Outside of Winchester people call the sports teams Clark County but here in town we call them GRC.

LexCath or the Knights is perfectly fine , like NewCath or CovCath , calling the team just Catholic kinda reminds me of a sign I saw at a Central Ky football venue a few years ago " Beat the Catlicks " . Insulting .

Another big win for the Cards. Really like the new Jordan uni's as well.

Can't wait to see the outcome of that Ballard game. I just might make the trip to Winchester.

Let me know and I will buy you a ALE-8.:thumb:

While I understand where you are coming from, most journalists will reference the proper name of something or someone first and then shorten it throughout an article as they did in this case. I noticed something else, the pictures from the game show the jerseys of Clark County reading "Clark County." What is the proper name of their school? George Rogers Clark or Clark County. The team I work with played at Clark County and I believe George Rogers Clark is on the front of their school building, but I don't know for sure.

If you notice when I start threads about us I always use George Rogers Clark....GRC. That is the name of the school. If you look for us on the scoreboard, it will be under GRC. If you go to the Lexington Hearld....It is under Clark Co. As stated before, us locals call it GRC....others call us Clark Co. And before you ask...our jersery's say...Clark Co...just call us the school with 2 names...

All has to do with the history is what I've always been told... We won the state title in 51 I believe as Clark Co. and other major wins in other sports under the name Clark Co therefore all/most of the history buffs still want us to go by Clark Co. which we do in most sports.

The 1951 championship team was from the old Clark County High which was a state power under Coach Letcher Norton for years. The city also had a Winchester High. When the schools merged in the 1960's the school was named George Rogers Clark so as not to favor either of the two schools. The locals first started using the formal name of the new school, George Rogers Clark or GRC, to distinguish the new Clark County High from the old Clark County High. And the usuage continues to this day. Almost all locals, graduates, etc. use and prefer the name GRC.

Oh I know, I prefer GRC. But the reason you still see Clark Co on the jerseys of basketball and baseball just to name a few of the sports, is because of the history and some don't want that history forgotten.

I forgot to post that GRC's JV team won too. Believe the JV team has only lost like 3 or 4 games this year.
