For all it's flaws it does a lot to put insurance companies in check. Complete repeal would be a terrible thing. I pay our insurance company 400 bucks a month right now for our coverage and they won't cover a once a year hundred dollar blood test for my wife's thyroid medicine because it's a precondition.

I've had a precondition ever since I was born. When I got hired 2+ years ago at my current job and left my parents coverage, I had no problems with having any of my heart procedures and tests that are done every year covered.

 

Insurance companies are a business, and should be allowed to operate as such. It's a terrible business decision if they don't set coverage limits, denials, etc.

You had no problems because you didn't have a lapse in coverage. They had to cover it by law. My wife grew up poor and didn't have insurance until after we were married.

Humana's profits were close to a BILLION dollars last year. That's profits after the lavish amoutns of money they pay all their high level employees. How is it they should profit that much while constantly taking advantage of people and denying good claims. If it weren't for the political football game on this subject what Health Insurance companies do would be seen as extortion.

I don't know what you Googled, but Pam Bondi is the current AG of the state of Florida. She took office January 4th.

I don't have a problem maximizing their profits to an extent, what I have a problem with is them denying claims when the excuse is it's how we stay in business then they are profitting a billion dollars. I just hope and pray you or anyone else is ever the one the chose to let die for their profits when you've paid thousands in premiums a year for 20 years only to have them turn on you when you actually really need it.

They also drive the cost of health care up because they tell doctors what they are going to pay on your bill and doctors are left with no choice but to accept whatever payment the insurance company sees as reasonable. Insurance companies are not saintly like most here want to believe, it's a very dirty business. This coming from a staunch Republican. I'm in line with the party on almost everything but this.

$400 for a couple? That's pretty cheap unless your employer is paying part of the premium. Figure on your premiums heading skyward.
