I seen almost every Walton game, and I can't remember them struggling against a press this year (90% of their turnover are on their side of half court). They struggle when a team sets down in a good half court man to man. I know most teams don't press as well as NCC, but getting the ball across half court has not been the problem for Walton so far.

 

I agree, most of their turnovers are in the front court. That is because their "open" offense has the bigs handling the ball on the perimeter. I still expect an NCC press if the two teams meet in Richmond and I don't believe Walton will be able to handle the pressure.

I believe that SK will beat Walton and have the number one seed in the district tournament. Strictly because we have better guards. Guard play seems to win more games than post play these days. I will admit that the score of this game really surprises me. A Walton team who lost no one from last year, added yet another solid transfer, and supposedly has a great coach. I would have expected it to be a good game. Seems they have a difficult time against ninth region teams.

Pretty much nailed it madman...but I would add that Walton runs too much of a structure offense which causes quite a bit of these unforced turnovers and they need to do more dribble drive in order to get shots.

I agree but unfortunately the "forward" who tries to dribble and drive ends up turning the ball over. Maybe the guards need to dribble drive and dish it off to the open player.

 

This is a common theme for most Girls teams in general. Great analogy, direct and to the point.

I have seen this type of offense all yr with lots of motion, screens and picks only to turn the ball over on a errant pass when the girl passing it has one on one with nobody between her and the goal and instead of taking it to the hole she waits patiently for the play to develope.

Cant do it though!!!!!, gotta wait for that girl to get back to the top of the key and make that pass, because that is the play.

 

Structured offense and plays are great at times when trading baskets but sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do and that is create.

Guard problems at Walton? Who would have thought? It seems as Walton has been struggling a little lately. They got an absolute gift from the officials at their place against South. Then got blasted by NCC last night. It seems as though things might not be going very smooth for the lady bearcats right now. Not a good time to be falling apart with the all "A" tournament approaching.

Not having Taulbee and Judy in the line up and Clinkenbeard hurt I can see why they would struggle against NCC.

Seems that that W-V faithful should keep an eye toward the sky in fear that it may fall on them. Come on folks, one game does not/will not make the season, they will be fine.

Don't under estimate the play of Taulbee. She is probably the second leading scorer on the bearcats team, and sometimes leads them in scoring. If you take a scorer like her off any team you will certainly feel the effects. If Taulbee plays I believe this is a much different game. She is a very important piece to the bearcat team.

I haven't seen as many games as you, but the ones I did see, they seem to labor against the press. Their loss to Eastern was a direct result of turnovers from being unable to break the press in my opinion.

If you take a scorer like her off any team you will certainly feel the effects. If Taulbee plays I believe this is a much different game. She is a very important piece to the bearcat team.

Scoring is not the only way a player can contribute on the court ....that is however what they seem to be graded on....Taulbee also stands in the top portion of the team in rebounds and steals. She also handles the ball very well. As far as WV getting a gift from the officials....if you were there you would have seen that this went both ways.....South got their gift first, they just weren't able to reap the benefits of it. WV was given the "same" gift and was able to nail it. WV played with minimal turnovers, good guarding, and as one with South...hence the outcome. None, if any of these factors were observed in the NCC game.....hopefully they will realize this very soon.....

Not sure what game you were watching. I have not seen so much home cooking going on in one place in a long time. I had to check and make sure I was not at Cracker Barrel. That was one of the worst officiated games down the stretch I have ever witnessed. Three officials and not one blew the whistle when your big girl clearly dribbled it out of bounds. Are you kidding me? If that call is made the game is over. Not to mention the make believe intentional foul. Wow if you can't see that it might be time to get your eyes checked, and take those officials with you to when you go. The officials completely controlled the outcome of this game. It is OK to admit it we all know. There's no shame in admitting it, its no secret.

It went both ways there is no doubt about it.

Yes, he missed the ball out of bounds there is no doubt.

Can't say that I agree with either of the intentional foul calls but South had the oportunity to put the game away there and did not, missed both free throws and then threw the ball away. Not a good foul on the other end by South Oldham, they let her make the layup they are still up by 2 but when you extend both arms in the lower back of a girl on a fast break there is a chance that it will be called intentional. It was, Taulbee hits both free throws to tie.

Could have went either way and Walton was the fortunate team that capitalized on the other teams mistakes.
