I don't think that is true at all. I'd be willing to be the majority of unbiased observers would go with Big Ben.

I'd definitely rather have Crosby. You have to remember that Suisham didn't have a job in this league this year until the Steelers let Reed go. Crosby has also been allowed to attempt 50+ yard FGs, Suisham has not attempted any (which is probably the reason he wasn't a kicker in the league for 13 regular season games). Speaking of special teams as a whole, I would like to know how many return TDs the Steelers have allowed in just the last two seasons, I would be willing to bet it is a lot more than the Packers. And yes, I know, they just allowed one to the Falcons two games ago.

Last two seasons? No, you just look at this season. Most of those guys last year are gone that let all those returns. I think we have allowed 1 return this year for a TD and I know for sure GB has allowed 2. I think GB has better kickers, but Pitt has better returners and coverage units. (this year)

As for QB, we are talking about this game only. I know A-Rod is great, but he has never played in a SB. Ben has 2 rings and is straight up clutch. Maybe the best clutch QB in the game now.

 

As for LB, I don't think it is that close. I would put Mathews and Harrison even, but I believe Steelers have the edge with every other LB.

 

And as clutch as Tom Brady is, he lost a Super Bowl too. Let's not try to make Big Ben into Terry Bradshaw or Joe Montana just yet. Not saying the Steelers will lose, but I am just saying.

Glad you realize that. And you're correct, this could very well be his 3rd blah.

Big Ben broke the infamous record of lowest QB rating for a SB winning QB set by John Elway in his first SB win against the Packers in SB XXXII. His rating was around 52. In all fairness to Ben, he is the youngest starting QB to win the SB and his low rating was probably because of his youth in playing the "big game." He later had a QB rating of 93 in defeating the Arizona Cardinals in SB XLIII.

Packers by 7. Mainly because it's in a Dome.

I love watching the Steelers. I'm not particularly a "Steelers fan", but their defense is just so much fun to watch. And I do like watching Ben as a QB. The big lug is absolutely 100% devoted to the win. There's nothing like watching defenders try to bring him down. They succeed at times, but he can take a lick and keep on ticking. Even better is when he pulls the ball down and runs with it. Nothing more amusing than watch the man lumber down field, and 9 times out of 10, he gets the yards needed plus more. And even MORE amusing is watching him try to slide down. He doesn't do that very gracefully. :lol: All in all, it's just fun to watch the Steelers. They're a team that I feel every single player gives 110% all the time. The fun thing for me in this Superbowl is that I'll get to watch two teams with ex-UL players on them. I'm in a win-win sitaution.

I've heard Wilbon say several times that if he needed one guy for one game (or one drive), he'd take Big Ben. He has cemented his status as a proven clutch performer. His QB raing in the Jets game was 35.5. He does whatever is necessary to win. That means sometimes he's a game manager and sometimes he'll throw it all over the field. I don't know anyone who questions whether the Steelers win in spite of Roethlisberger.

Go back to the threads after his first super bowl win. Shoot, even the season of his second win he played very poorly, didn't he? I think the experts do appreciate him but we're talking the majority of people and if you listen to sports radio or read the sports blogs it's a pretty common opinion. It's the perception I get from them anyway.

 

BTW, I like the guy and have defended him on here in the past. Ever since I watched him throw bullets through a tornado during a Thursday night Miami game his senior year.
