Best fight you have seen at a high school sporting event?

Nothing pops in my mind but I am sure there are some great stories out there.

Anyone?

An old-timer from Holmes or NewCath will have to help me out.

I'd guess it was about 75 or 76 and these two played in the region semis(I think). It was at Conner. A kid from Holmes fouled out and a fan came down to say something to him. Fight broke out. Floor was packed with people including some police officers.

I have heard a similar story, but it was prior to 75/76 and I think it was at Holy Cross.

Haven't seen many. Only can really recall one. My senior of high school (05), Brossart vs. Trinity in the LexCath holiday tournament. Brossart player and a Trinity player got tangled up for a loose ball and a situation like the Cousins/Swopshire incident transpired. Brossart guy got ejected, but the real action came from the fans where 3-4 Brossart fans were escorted out, one for threatening an official and another (a student) for trying to start a fight with one of the Listermann boys (who was LexCath AD at the time). Good memories.

There have been a couple Cov Cath / Highlands fights between students that were pretty intense, but they typically happened in the parking lots after exiting the gym.

The best fight that I've personally witnessed was during a Cov Cath / Holy Cross basketball game. I think it was the district tournament game - I'd guess in 2004. Cov Cath was shooting a FT. As the teams lined up for the free throw, a female fan came out of the stands. She appeared to be exiting CCH's gym right in front of where CCH was shooting the free throw. Instead, she walked up to a Holy Cross cheerleader and grabbed her by the hair and went to town. The fight went on for maybe 30 seconds before a cop came and broke it up. The girl who walked out of the stands left with a clump of the cheerleader's hair. It was AWESOME.

Naturally, the CCH student section immediately began chanting "That was awesome" as well. Indeed it was.

That would be Andy Listerman - '92 grad of CCH and currently at Elder, I think.

Those were two girls that have thrown down before. It was not a bunch of slapping. It was punching.

I think the girl was from Scott and she actually walked in from the outside and started wailing on her.

I was at a Mason County/Walton game at Walton in the late 80s/early 90s where a fight broke out on the floor in a JV game and some Mason County senior citizens knocked me out of the way in order to get down to the floor. Protecting their boys.

This would be the winner for "non-player" fighting.

WOW.

Agreed, that is incredible.

Yup, it was definitely not their first fight. I thought the Scott girl came from the stands, but you may be right. I do know that the fight was over a guy, who I believe was on the basketball team.

Just when you think it's over...BOOM!!! Haymakers!!!

I'm surprised no one cut their hands on the one fellas glasses... Good lord, Coke would be proud.

When I was a senior, 1992/1993, Henderson was playing Evansville Memorial in soccer. One of the Memorial plays sucker punched one of our guys and broke his jaw. From there it was a free for all. The benches cleared, the stands cleared, it was a mess. After that game a fence was put up around the soccer field to keep fans from being able to run onto the field.

As a youngster I was playing baseball somewhere up near Ross, OH (I think). There were 4 fields at the complex, but only 2 of them had games going on. The other game was on the field directly behind our home plate. I think their game was the 2nd of a doubleheader against the same team. A pitcher beaned a batter, and the batter charged the mound. The benches cleared, but I was on 1st base and didn't have a very good view through the fences.

Their game was ended immediately.
