Jody Demling said he might do that. Petrino and Assistant Coach John L. Smith were at Trinity earlier to see Quick, White, Warburg and Hatcher.

I kinda figured Dixie would lose this game. Ryan Taylor is the real deal for Western.

Dixie was in it up until two late steals sealed the victory for Western, both steals occured at halfcourt and resulted in easy layups. After the first quarter the Taylor kid did what he wanted with little answer from Dixie.

 

Hatton and Pike both looked very strong.

Hatton was every bit on the same level as Ryan Taylor tonight. I cannot figure out why the Dixie coach is so affraid to let Hatton take over a game. Hatton scored 11 points in the first quarter and only took one shot in the second in which he had made but he had to create the shot on his own. If I am the coach and I put the water boy in the game and he is clearly putting the ball in the basket at will I would make sure the water boy has the ball in his hands on every posession. Point being if a kid is playing very well at the time ride him untill the saddle falls off period. Hatton was 8/13 for 23 points. I even noticed during the game Hatton telling the coach several times to get him the ball. The coach needs to listen because Dixie will only go as far as Hatton will take them.

Western started a very tall line up but the game changed when they brought in this small, quick guard. This is the same guard who stole the final two possessions away from Dixie to seal the game.

I would guess one was 6 foot 6 and the other maybe 5 foot nothing. He had a giants heart though.

Brandon also had 8 boards. Really nice effort.

The stat that jumps out at me is the 37% FG percentage shooting by Dixie. You'll have a hard time beating anyone, much less a good team with that number.

 

60% from the line doesn't help either.

That little guard for Western looks like he barely tops 5' in height but very mature looking.

 

The key stat of the game is points off the bench and I believe Western got 11 and Dixie got zero. It also sounds like during that 2nd qtr when Western got back in the game they also lost sight of Hatton on offense.

 

Dixie needs more games like this if they plan on winning the 9th Region and competing downstate.
