Hatton was every bit on the same level as Ryan Taylor tonight. I cannot figure out why the Dixie coach is so affraid to let Hatton take over a game. Hatton scored 11 points in the first quarter and only took one shot in the second in which he had made but he had to create the shot on his own. If I am the coach and I put the water boy in the game and he is clearly putting the ball in the basket at will I would make sure the water boy has the ball in his hands on every posession. Point being if a kid is playing very well at the time ride him untill the saddle falls off period. Hatton was 8/13 for 23 points. I even noticed during the game Hatton telling the coach several times to get him the ball. The coach needs to listen because Dixie will only go as far as Hatton will take them.

 

I don't neccessarily agree with this. I think Dixie has some other very good players that in sum total make a very nice team. Not taking anything away from Hatton, but if you put the ball in just one player's hand so that he can take more shots, many of those shots become contested shots, and usually the FG % goes down. The other players just start standing around watching one kid take shots, which is never a good thing.

You never take the ball out of a hot shooters hand, you let them cool off or demand so much attention that they get other players better looks. You never should take the ball out of their hand, I see coaches do this all the time at the high school level but you rarely see it at the college or pro level. Let the best on that night be the best the other players will be OK with it as long as they are true team mates not individuals.

Yes. When he got in he was assigned to Mr. Taylor. He played tough D on him, banging on Taylor and making him work for his shot. I believe he had maybe 6 or 8 pts. on Cohorn. He missed alot of shots with Cohorn guarding him, but the shots he did make on him was definately due to the height mismatch. Cohorn is a tough defender and an excellent passer. He sees the floor really well and usually finds the open man for the assist. The kids really strong for his size.

Cohorn play? He's the new 'microwave'.
