January 15, 201115 yr Great game. Very fun to watch a come from behind win like that one. Knowles can fill it up when he gets going. On that last pass though, I almost lost my voice yelling at the TV. I was yelling "UNDER! UNDER! UNDER!" and I thought for sure Knowles was going to miss Kuric being wide open underneath for what seemed like forever ... but he found him and the Cards got the win. Fun game.
January 15, 201115 yr Marquette is still laying on the floor coughing from "choking" this one. Marquette "snatched defeat from the jaws of victory". I do agree on Knowles play along with the UL team down the stretch making the comeback.
January 15, 201115 yr Just got back from the YUM! Center. Unbelievable. Crowd exiting the game was hugging, kissing, doing C-A-R-D-S chants all the way to the furthest parking lots. Terrence Jennings had an awful, awful game as a whole, but he was huge on those 4 foul shots, and you could have heard a pin drop in the YUM! Center as he shot each one. Peyton Siva was also atrocious, but the kid was into his team from the bench down the stretch and cheered EJ the whole time. This team is not all that talented, but they are not quitters.
January 15, 201115 yr The real story here is the Cards were down 65-47 with just over 5 minutes to go. Then CRP puts Elisha Justice in the game. The Cards go on an 18-2 run and outscores Marquette 24-5 the rest of the way and come back to beat Marquette. Although Knowles will get all of the credit saying that PK and SVT scored all of the points in the 15-0 spurt, I think the unsung hero for the game is EJ!!! GO CARDS!!! Not the same but it kind of reminded me of UK's unbelievable comeback at LSU several years ago when under Pitino. U.K. came from 31 down in the 2nd half on the road to win. Cngrats to the bgp Louisville fans on the win.
January 15, 201115 yr How many times have we all saw teams go into stall mode with around 5 or 6 minutes to go trying to run the clock. Give UL credit they came back and won it when the Warriors gave it to them.
January 16, 201115 yr How many times have we all saw teams go into stall mode with around 5 or 6 minutes to go trying to run the clock. Give UL credit they came back and won it when the Warriors gave it to them. Warriors? Love it! That was back in the days of Al McGuire, Doc Rivers, Rick Majerus and the like. Golden Eagles now. Amazing comeback by the Cardinals! Today I am embarrassed to be a Marquette fan.
January 16, 201115 yr Two amazing numbers that help explain why things happened the way they did: 77... that's how many consecutive mintues of playing time have elapsed since Elisha Justice's last turnover. He's never going to be a great scorer in the Big East and he's not going to amaze people with his play at this level (Siva has those things -- or at least the potential for them -- and it's why Louisville's success will continue to flow from him while he's a Cardinal), but consistency like that is why he had the ball to close this one out. 38-36... that was the final rebounding tally... in favor of Louisville. After all the talk of how bad Louisville looked trying to rebound the ball on Wednesday, they managed to get an edge on Marquette and it won us the game. Terrence Jennings came up especially huge, grabbing four key rebounds to assist the comeback. He also nailed those four free throws to get Louisville to within a point. For all the talk of Preston Knowles (which is absolutely deserved), Justice and Jennings are the unsung heroes of yesterday's game.
