What happened to the 6'10" young man from NCC? He was not on the bench tongiht.

Geisler is indeed the best center and player in the region, but man does he get the "Jordan treatment."

 

He is without a doubt better than Thelen, but Thelen got hacked several times and there was no call.

 

I've seen a lot of basketball over the years and I must admit that I've never seen a team "homered" as bad as Covcath was tonight. Geisler was travelling/carrying/insert anything else you want here, anytime he touched the ball and tried to take his man off the dribble and nothing was called. Defensively, his "football side" came out on more than several occasions and again no calls. Newcath was the better team tonight but the officiating was absolutely horrible, to say the least.

 

And before anyone comes down on me for my observation, keep in mind I have no affiliation with either team. Just a simple casual fan tonight.

 

Another unbiased opinion here but I agree that it does appear that he does get away with his share of things without being called for a foul. Do referees read the newspaper? Preseason hype sometimes goes a long way unless of course you are the Cougars from Conner.

I hate to start bashing referees as it appears that noone with a lot of real experience playing the game has a desire to referee today but personally I have seen some awful officiating lately. I took in the Carroll County @ Cooper triple header last night and know for a fact that the Cooper varsity coach apologized to the Carroll County coaches for the officiating. I didn't see the freshman game but I heard there was maybe 1 foul called the whole game on the home team, Cooper, and knowing how the Cooper staff preach hard nosed man to man that is unbelievable.

Just saw the T on Coach L. Tough call. Obviously there was contact but the question revolves around the verticality principal. Did Jake jump into Geisler? Hard to tell.

So you weren't at the game and admit to bad camera angle but are confident there were no missed travel calls? Not sure I get that.

 

That said, CovCath would not have won this game if they had gotten every call. Just like the Holmes game, there was no fire in the belly. No one was driving the ball to the hoop. Way too many outside shots by the big guys. Twice in a row, they were not prepared for the teams they faced. There is too much talent on the bench for them not be aggressive. Why they believe they can (or have to ) match up in half court with anyone is baffling to me.

 

As a side note on the officiating, I saw the worst call ever in a high school game during the 3d period of the JV game. The ref who looks like Hannibal Lector called a charge on a CCH kid when the NCC kid CLEARLY had one foot still in the air.

I watched the NKYsports.com broadcast. The angle from was above the floor from the CCH bench end. Some shots weren't that great but most were good enough. The call where the announcer said "NBA continuation" was not a travel. The "bad angle" comment was on one that was right below the camera.

 

Calls get missed in games. Happens every game. I watched this one and simply didn't see very many questionable calls. Some touch fouls were called that others might have passed on but at least one was after the two Ts and you're always going to get refs tightening up after the emotions flare just to keep peace.

 

What calls do you think were missed?

I agree with your thoughts on the offense. Way too many outside shots and I thought a lack of patience.
