While CH is a little misguided IMO, I will say that some passages in the Qu'ran are far from peaceful. The call for never surrendering in a religious war until the infidels bow to the one true god is quite scary. However the few Muslims that I know have told me that their faith in Islam calls for peace and to be honest I do not remember a passage in the Qu'ran that actually called for Muslims to be the aggressors.

Since Christianity is an older Religion (1st Century AD vs. 7th Century AD), is it possible that Christianity has had more time to evolve into a more peaceful expression of faith? That those 600 years (Which if you look at Reformation in the 16th and 17th Century that's only been 400 to 500 years), may account for one faith (i.e. Christianity) putting down the wholesale sword and the other hasn't had time to morph into that place? :idunno:

 

BTW, St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre was 1572 (just one example) and was less than 450 yrs ago. The Irish Catholic/Protestant issues were this last century. When is it all ancient history? :idunno:

 

I think he's just not seeing the link between the two. Most christians feel that the oppressive events in the past were misguided and wrong and would not support those actions to be taken again in any circumstance. Al Queda and other hate groups are misguided as well. They pervert the written words of the Qu'ran like the passage I just referenced above to brainwash people into thinking that their cause is just. It's not different from a cult IMO.

But I do believe there is more motive behind all of these feel sorry for Muslims and quit celebrating Christan Holidays because it hurts our feelings and we don't believe so you shouldn't either, even though it has been in your culture for hundreds of years. Problem is, in your scenario an inch turns into tens of thousands of miles.

I celebrated Christmas, my kids celebrated Christmas even did some fun stuff at school, I will celebrate Easter my kids will Celebrate Easter and I know something will be mentioned at school. There is no attack. The greatest threats to my family worshiping right now are my children s activities. It is not some atheist or other religious person taking my rights away it is how busy I make my life.

 

I am a principal at a public school, I try to pray AT SCHOOL every morning, I have a couple of devotionals sent to me on-line AT SCHOOL, there is no threat, nothing has been taken away.

I celebrated all of the following too, I hope we can continue to enjoy these things also.

But I do believe in Allah, I just call him God. I believe in Mohammed to, just not the way Muslims do. He was a real person.

I guess I'm not his brother then, as long as he is fair and doesnt discriminate against non-brothers.
