Look for an announcement on Tuesday that the IPhone will be available through Verizon.

I saw that mentioned earlier today on Fox News, so it must be true.

I have the DroidX with Verizon that I love so I won't be rushing to get an iPhone, but when I'm able to use an upgrade again I may have to switch over. I have about 18 months to go, though.

I was told January 15th will be the day.

Wish they'd done this before Christmas.

The differences aren't too big. I'd say it comes down to feel of phones. Like I said before, I have the DroidX and some would say it's a bit too big for their hands and would prefer a small phone like the iPhone or a different Droid. Some like keyboards rather than all touch screen, and Droid has a few of them. It's about personal preference. The performance is similar.

I have a Droid X as well and it is by far ther best phone I have ever had. I have to agree that it would probably just come down to the feel because they are so similar.

Having said that when my upgrade time rolls around again I would probably try the I phone.

There are a few benefits of having an Android phone, though. A lot of apps come free for android that don't, or wouldn't for an iPhone. Lookout mobile security is the same type of program as Apples "mobileMe," and MobileMe costs 100 dollars per year. Lookout Mobile is completely free. Also things like NFL Mobile is one of the best Apps on the market and that comes free to Verizon users, so I would assume the iPhone will have it as well. I know Angry Birds is free on Android, not free on the iPhone. I haven't searched enough to find out more apps that are free with Android and costly on the iPhone but those are a few that I use frequently.

Is it the full version of Angry Birds? There is a free version on Iphone that has like 12 levels. There are also a ton of other free aps for Iphone. I also believe there are a lot more aps period for Iphone then the Andriod phones.

There are more iPhone apps but you could make an argument that a lot of then are useless and there are multiple products used in the app store for apple. iPad, iTouch, etc that the market is guaranteed to be a bit bigger. Angry Birds is free on android fully if you accept advertisements.

But how many different droid phones are there? On how many different networks? Of course there are a ton of useless aps for Apple products but the same is true for Droid phones.

The amount of iPhones, iTouchs, and iPads out numbers Droid phones and it's not close. When people create their apps they're going to create it for the Apple store if they want to make more money. Larger market and more consumers. It makes perfect sense as to why there are more Apple apps. There are ton of useless apps in the Android market as well but the Apple app store has far more.
