Louisville Ballard 98 Fayette County (GA) 77

Featured Replies

Semi Finals of the Republic Bank Holiday Classic.

As I stated yesterday, Ballard is indeed the real deal.

If you haven't seen them play yet, go see the finals of the Republic Bank Holiday Classic at LexCath on Thursday @ 7:30 and see what just might be the Sweet Sixteen Finals as Ballard goes up against LexCath.

Ballard will be in the Final Four of the Sweet 16 mark it down. They are well coached and are a blur up and down the court. They have to avg over 80 pts a game.

Great job, Bruins. Sounds like the seventh region will be an all-out war. Too bad only one team gets to represent at Sweet 16.

Ballard 98, Fayette County (Ga.) 77: This one was never really a game as the Bruins jumped on Fayette County early and rarely took their foot off the gas. Parker's three-pointer shortly before the first-quarter horn put Ballard up 22-7, and the Bruins went into halftime up 28 (45-17) on the No. 2 rated team in Georgia's Class 4A.

Ballard is the real deal. They go 10 deep and lose NOTHING. Their only issue that I see is that they are slow to get started. Once they get going, look out.

Fayette was an impressive looking team, at least in warm ups. They have some big, mature looking young men.

Watched them beat up a pretty good Warren Central team 83-46, then watched them play a outstanding game against Lexington Henry Clay, who they beat 72-67. Per the Lexington Herald Leader they are ranked #2 in the State of Ga. in 4A class.

I left at half time of this game and it looks like the 2nd half played out much like the first. Ballard has a very good ball team. The most impressing thing I noticed was the youth in the starting line up. The 3 underclassmen play well above their age. Is it perhaps, that the 3 best teams in KY are from the same region?

Ballard will have to get by Eastern and J'town first....

Another impressive performance by the Bruins though. I talked to Coach Booher last night and he said Snyder is the real deal and can flat out play.

Still trying to figure out how Holmes stayed within 4 points of this Ballard team, leading up until midway through the 4th quarter, but lose to Newcath and Aiken?

Ballard will have to be ten points better tonight to overcome the MASSIVE home court advantage that Catholic always seems to enjoy???

I think they will win this but it will be close

Will the Ballard-LexCath game be on TV or computer somewhere? Thanks.

I think the score of the Holmes-Ballard game is somewhat deceptive. From the reports I received, Coach Renner benched his starters midway through the first quarter and did not play them until midway through the 3rd quarter. Ballard took the lead early but after giving up some easy buckets, the starters were benched and Holmes played against Ballard's second and third string for almost two quarters. Ballard was up 93-80 with two minutes left but again gave up 16 points in the last two minutes. Don't know if it was good offense by Holmes or bad defense by Ballard. The rematch will be in late February at Ballard.
