Final - From the 'Republic Bank Classic' @ Lexington Catholic

Loser's Bracket

From what I hear Thelen had 20 points and came very close to a triple-double.

Wow. Congrats to CovCath on a very impressive win!

Momma was right, CovCathiRadio! You learn from your losses and improve and that is exactly what the Colonels did this afternoon.

Remember NKy fans, this is the same Henry Clay team that beat George Rogers Clark earlier in the season!

Tonight CovCath played again as a team as the 24 assists prove, but in this game they make Henry Clay pay when they overplayed the passing lanes like Ballard did the night before.

Thelen scored 20 tonight but I was more impressed with his passing and his defense. Give a big pat on the back to Andrew Schultz who gave his teammates a strong 13 minutes off the bench and scored 10 points and just hustled his butt off.

Riedinger and Maschinot did a great job of beating the press with some niffy dribbling and passing.

CovCath shot 60.0% from the floor and limited HC to 34.4%. Oh, and if your thinking of trying to squeeze the paint, CovCath shot 50.0% from beyond the arch tonight!

Jake indeed had a triple double. Very solid game for the big guy. Very good passes on his part.

It was a nice come back for the Colonels after getting spanked by Ballard. I believe that there were five guys in double figures. Redinger was hitting outside shots. Maschinott recovered nicely from Tuesday. Connelly played a solid game with very nice defense Again, he spent time guarding a guy who has never had someone like that guard him. Baker was back to altering shots. It was also great to see Schult back providing very solid minutes. He played well too. Stayed in control and I for one love his reverse lay-ups.

The Blue Devils pressed and the Colonels got better at figuring out how to break it. It still is not pretty to watch, but they got it done. The Colonels spent a great deal of the game in a zone, which stymied the Blue Devils. The Colonels played that one very well.

The Colonels will play again tomorrow in the game for 5th place in the tourney. With the obvious exception of the score of Tuesday's game, the Blue Boys should come out of this tourney with some positives: 1) Their weaknesses were made plain to them; 2) They learned how to come back after a bad loss; 3) They beat some good teams; 4) They had multiple guys step up over the week. These guys still need to figure out how to play a solid 3d quarter. Not sure what happens in the locker room, but they need to do something come out fired up and ready to play. That could hurt them bad in the not so distant future.

Did Kiesling play?

Yes, the entire game.

Did Kiesling play?

As Scout said yes, all 32 minutes of it! We had him for 8 pts.

BTW Drew Barker did indeed score 10 pts. My bad for not mentioning it!

Been a long day and a long week driving back and forth to Lexington, but am looking forward to it tomorrow!

I must say I was very impressed with this team prior to the tourney, but am even more impressed after losing by 36 to the #1 team in the state and coming back the very next night and taking care of business. Nice job boys.

5 players in double figures. You gotta like that. :thumb:

I think J'town and Eastern might disagree with that statement regarding Ballard.

So CCH now has 2 triple doubles this year.

I think J'town and Eastern might disagree with that statement regarding Ballard.

I'm just going by ranking...nothing more. I must have read it wrong, I thought in the preview it mentioned Ballard being #1.
