Forgot to mention Big Jake had a double, double! 28 points and 11 boards. BTW in naming Conner Maschinot as the player who impressed me a lot tonight, I am not all forgetting about Riedinger. If Brett starts hitting his shots every night like he did tonight, then there is no telling what this team can achieve this season.

I really like hearing how this group is playing, and I have had more than one person tell me how much fun they are to watch. And I totally agree about Brett - if he gets his confidence and hits his shots, it will open up so much more for this team. Keep up the hard work guys, and congrats on another win!

Count me in as an outsider that hopes CovCath wins the 9th Region just so I can watch their student section do their thing at Rupp!

Big Jake is having a Superlative year thus far and this is a very nice team win. Reidinger netting 17 is very interesting. If guys can fill their roles supporting Thelen, this team could make a serius run.

 

On a side note, all it took was a few St Pius games I saw 4 yrs ago for me to know Thelen would be a stud.

I wouldn't get too excited over this one.

 

StX is REALLY down this year and I bet will struggle to win 10 games.

CovCath was 0/2 from the free throw line in the first half but was 14/22 in the second half for a game total of 14/24

True but it was when they made those FT, which was in the last 2/3 minutes of the 4th when St. X started fouling CovCath trying to kill the clock! The percentage still isn't where it needs to be but it was an improvement and the players did step to the line and did sink those FT when they had to..

 

BTW CovCath Internet Radio didn't broadcast the game as Mark had a prior family obligation!

I'm cautiously optimistic about this year's Colonels, but if their guards settle down against the press and stop turning the ball over, they have a shot to get to Rupp. They also have to hit a few outside shots, and Riedinger and Cleves are crucial to that happening. If they hit shots and keep teams out of a zone, they are going to be a tough out. They have a POY candidate in Thelen, a perfect compliment to him in Baker, the X factor and a major matchup problem every time he takes the court in Connelly. They go 10 deep into their bench (Massie, Hayden, Arnzen, Hudepohl) and that is without the injured Andrew Schult who will certainly fill an intensity role that sometimes this team can lack. With his motor he's capable of scoring 6-10 and will be disruptive on defense. Free throw shooting has to be fixed, although the old guy is right, they've been hitting them when they need them. Granted the teams CovCath has beaten are combined 11-15, so they are still looking for that signature win that puts them solidly in the discussion. That could come Tuesday against Campbell who holds a win over Boone.

The Colonels have all the potential in the world IMO. If they hit there free throws you have an excellent chance of seeing the colonels along with the colonel crazies down at Rupp.

Good win but most can agree St. X is not the best of teams. The thing that is so good about CCH this year is they do not rely of outside shooting for their points. They have outside shooting but its not what makes them good. Outside shooting can often go cold but I don't see the inside game doing that.

No better seen in hgh school sports than watching Rupp Arena crowd join the CCH cheering section in multiple renditions of the wave and other cheers. I am hopeful for them as well, but they will have some challenges just to get out of the district. They are one of the best that I have seen in the region but coaching and attitude will be critical for this team to stay on track.
