November 15, 201015 yr According to Sports By Brooks, he is likely to be one of the three finalists for the job, and could be the leader. Interesting. Clearly a bump in pay will be in line and I think his youngest will be graduating high school this year. Lee Todd is heading for the exits. Will be interesting to see how all of this shakes out.

November 15, 201015 yr Kansas knows they have an Elite basketball program. They are going to focus on someone who can build the football program up and Mitch did a good job of that at UK.
November 15, 201015 yr There is nothing wrong with going for more money and getting out while the getting was good!
November 15, 201015 yr After reading that article, how could he not leave for that kind of money difference? Assuming he is offered the job...
November 15, 201015 yr There is nothing wrong with going for more money and getting out while the getting was good! Not to mention Kansas is where he's from.
November 15, 201015 yr Would be interesting to see who UK would look towards to replace him...I can think of one name that would be rather interesting, although I don't see him having any interest in becoming an AD.
November 15, 201015 yr I don't think Barnhart is going to get 4.4 million a year. That was one of the issues with the old AD. However, Mitch will still get paid if he leaves.

But if he gets half of what current guy is making, that is more than 5 times his current salary. I can't imagine the cost of living is much more in Lawrence, KS.
November 15, 201015 yr It would be a good fit for MB. I agree Kansas may want him for what he can do with football.
November 15, 201015 yr Coach Belotti, it's Mitch Barnhart on line one for you There are some who wish he'd picked up the phone and dialed that number at his current job...
November 15, 201015 yr But if he gets half of what current guy is making, that is more than 5 times his current salary. I can't imagine the cost of living is much more in Lawrence, KS. The $4.4 million is a bit exaggerated, because much of it was performance-based (this is what I've heard). That figure included bonuses the Kansas AD got from KU winning the basketball title. The base salary, though, is about twice what Mitch is making @ UK. Also heard that if Mitch leaves, Sandy Bell goes with him. Sandy has quite the reputation as compliance director. Mark Krebs says she's "nails" on compliance.

I'd much rather keep Sandy than Mitch, but I like them both.
