Would there be any advantage to breaking up the Volleyball structure that the KHSAA currently has into classes?

 

Perhaps restructuring the biggest volleyball programs (Assumption, Sacred Heart, Mercy) into a seperate classification?

 

Throwing this out there for thoughts: 3 Classes - 3 state Championships

 

A - Small school (enrollment under 500)

AA - Medium School (enrollment 501 - 1299)

AAA - Large School (enrollment 1300 - xxxx)

 

Thoughts/Opinions/Views?

Well they do it for football and it isn' as sacrosanct as the gasp Sweet Sixteen so I say do it .

Volleyball is the only sport I'd consider public vs private.

Wasn't the Final 4 made up of all private? How about a private bracket and a public bracket (champion)? Oh.....sorry, can't do that, might ruffle to many feathers in the wrong nest.

In KY volleyball has been the exclusive domain of the private schools in NKY and Louisville. Many others have a better grasp of recent history than I do but I don't remember a public school reaching the finals. Ever.

No . St Henry , Assumption Mercy and Henry Clay which is a Lexington public school unless I'm mistaken were in the semis this year . Henry Clay beat Mercy in the first game of their semi-final match but Mercy took the next two games from them to advance to the finals .

Campbell Co. and Simon Kenton too . The teams mentioned all have one thing in common . Their players also play the dreaded Club Ball .

Yes indeed they did ,and I should know this pretty well . My daughter is one of NCC's coaches (JV) .

If sports such as volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, etc. are ever classified, I hope the KHSAA only divides them into two classes. I think a big/small divide would be perfect. Obviously there would still be a private advantage in a sport like volleyball, but much of that advantage comes from schools that have been playing the sport for years. Many schools out in the state have been playing volleyball for less than a decade.

I would love to see Volleyball divided into classes. KHSAA, why are there no consistent rules for sports? Some sports are classified according to size, some are not, some seed, some draw....etc. I personally think all sports should be classified according to size, but no matter what the playing field is, it should be equal for all sports.
