You are kiddin right?

As good as they are for "FRESHMAN", I was thinking the same thing. Lets not get ahead of ourselves people.

WOW! It was just a question. It's been stated many times that the 'Birds are suffering some injuries. Some of those freshmen are pretty good and the thought was that if one or two could fill in for a week or two, then those with injuries would have time to heal. Do we really want to rush the injured people back this week and risk losing them the rest of the playoffs?

They say that every year and every year in the 1st playoff game they put in some select Frosh. I don't expect this week to be any different.

I didn't say they wouldn't play. If the score dictates it, then the Coaching staff will make every attempt possible to get everybody in the game including some Freshman. But for one (not you) to "ask" the question, will any Freshman fill in for injured Varsity players, seems a little over the top IMO. Maybe they are capable, but I think they will get their time along with the other freshman. Again just my opinion.

Why is it that everytime someone makes a suggestion that may be logical to that poster and many others, they are accused of bashing the program? Whackem supports the program, I know that for a fact. Are there some sort of conditions that need to be adhered to in order to be a Highlands fan? Please advise if there are.

Qryche11,

There are no conditions to adhere to and I know Whackem supports the program but I think the coaches know what they are doing. Compton was used sparingly during the Ryle game and with another week to rest he should be ready for round two of the playoffs. I think Dale will use him some this week just to keep him fresh but I don't think you'll see the starters or most of them in the second half of the game if not sooner. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few freshmen toward the end of the game as well. This team is a little banged up but they will be ready for their run at State!!!

Woodford is in a rebuilding year. This game should help with build them for next year. Looking forward to seeing a game in the bird's nests from the visitors sideline throw footballs at the refs :D. good luck to all the Highlands fans.

Since you haven't been to David Cecil Memorial Stadium WOFOJP61, the fans sit in the bleachers on the same side... which may not be a bad thing with the frosty forecast for tonight. Safe travels to Ft. Thomas.

Agreed!!!:thumb: Its "Lockem up Week" for Frosh in Ft Thomas. LOL.

I am a little puzzled by everyone talking about Highlands being banged up. Not real sure what this means. Highlands is at full strength on Defense as far as I am concerned. IMO, the biggest factor and blow since week 2 was the lost of Jr OLB Josh Quillen. No one player has changed the complexion of this D as much as his absence. Absoultutely changed the identity and strength of this Highlands defense, imo.

Now on Offense, thats a different story regarding injuries

I think we ran him off of BGP.:D

Shouldnt you be Hunting or something? LOL.

What's the staus of Brendan Sullivan?

Since I asked the question, why not respond to my follow up comment? Why is over the top to think that a talented freshmen can fill in for an injured varsity starter in Week 1 of the playoffs where typically there's a 40+ point spread?

You act like I was trying to stir the pot or had some type of agenda. I wasn't and don't.

No wonder people on BGP give the Highlands posters a hard time, you can't even ask a question without getting jumped by "those who have all the answers".

I was going by what I've heard on here and from a couple of non-BGP sources. I thought there were several defensive injuries.

Making legit and sound points also doesnt mean that we think the coaches are idiots either. They have proven themselves and do not need to do anything else but not playing athletes on both sides of the ball when you are banged up is borderline stubborn. LOL

On a side note, isnt Woodford Co also known as the birthplace for Leatherneck's (and mine) favorite drink? I wonder if some of their fans would be obliged to bring some samples.

What's the staus of Brendan Sullivan?

Good luck with that one.....He has a tremendous impact on D when healthy.....just as irreplaceable as Quillen IMO.

Relax Francis, Towles is not the only one to have a long run apparently you haven't been watching the entire year. When Compton was healthy the offense had other big runs as well and they will again. Dale and the coaching staff know what they are doing and this team will rebound from ONE loss. Sometimes the Highland's faithful can be over the top with their comments. Instead of bashing this team we should be supporting them!!! The loss to Ryle isn't the end of the season and it may be the best thing that could have happen to this team to get them focused for whats ahead.

I know one purpose of this forum is for open debate about the football programs & their strategies, but I gotta agree with NCBIRD on this one. Dale has won state championships in HALF of the seasons he's coached Highlands, so until I see a significant drop-off in production, I'm inclined to give him & his staff the benefit of the doubt. If CCH had a coach that won like that they'd be promoting him for sainthood!

IMO, Dale doesn't do anything that's not calculated into the bigger picture of what he's trying to accomplish. As much as I'd like to see a couple of the kids going both ways (and have mentioned it on BGP), I've got to believe there's a very good reason he's chosen not to do so.
