I think any of the DBs (Bruns, Abner, New) could be used on offense some. After all, both Abner and New each played QB in the past and Bruns has great hands. The thought of Bruns catching passes in the middle of the field or running out of the backfield is tempting to say the least.

 

Have no clue what Coach Mueller is likely to do over the next 5 weeks but this poster wouldn't be surprised to see some changes going forward.

 

Within the last 3 posts, there have been 4 different players named who would be "great" in some other capacity than what they are playing now. I don't think we are likely to see that many add some new position responsibilities to their current. It has nothing to do with what I believe they "can" do, as they are terrific athletes, but I just don't see Highlands going far away from the setup they have now.

I thnk that playing a strict 2 platoon system is great, in theory. But I just don't think Highlands has quite enough depth not to deviate from this formula. There comes a time when certain players have to be used both ways.

Look, I'm no more knowledgeable than any other poster on here about what they will do. But, I just don't see them making wholesale changes at this point in the season. If you see anything in the neighborhood of players playing both ways, I believe it will be spot situations and specific circumstances.

 

Lastly, I don't recall AC playing defense last year during the Johnon Central game in the second half. I do recall that Cam Diereg moved from end to nose, and Justin Johnson moved out to end, and that slowed down the run game considerably. I may be wrong on this, but the only games that Austin played defense were at the beginning of the season (Manual, etc).

AC was put in during the 1st half of the JC game on defense....not the 2nd half.

From what I've heard, most, if not all, of the ~40 Frosh are continuing to practice and will suit up tomorrow night. Not sure what the total # of players expected to dress tomorrow night will be, but it could be a fairly impressive / intimidating mass of bodies during pregame warmups and on the sideline. Hope someone gets a picture.

I agree. I think Drake Bruns should be used at running back. I believe Donovan McCoy would be a fantastic linebacker. And there are others, on both sides of the ball, that could make great contributions.

Dale's done a fine job over the years adapting and the wins certainly indicate an effective process so I think they'll make the minor changes needed without advice from us. Kick the ball, watch the ball and catch the ball and we're not even having this discussion.
