Much more so than the Rand Paul supporter and the woman from Moveon.org ...

 

There are some subtle differences, in that Behar's comments were aimed more at one specific person while Williams' remarks could be construed at being about a much larger group of people.

Gotcha. No, I didn't take that to be an offensive remark. However, I'm open to why I should have if you care to explain why you took it that way. I took it as a shot against Angle for her ad about Reid.

Let me add, though, that even if I did think it was offensive I do not think it's an automatic that she should be fired. I didn't think it was an automatic that Williams should have been fired. Heck, I didn't even hear any clamoring for his firing in the first place.

NPR had every right to fire Williams ... after all, it's their call, and they chose to do so. I don't necessarily agree with the decision, but it is theirs to make.

 

The same applies with "The View" producers and Behar.

There are lots of insensitive remarks on TV so that by itself is immaterial IMO.

One was by an employee who had been warned several times that his employer didn't want anymore controversial remarks. I do not know if that's the case with Behar.

 

The only common trait is the insensitivity which, as I said, isn't enough in and of itself. I'm not one that thinks every time I hear something I don't like that someone should pay. It doesn't have an impact on me so I'll let those that have a vested interest decide if it's worthy of dismissal.

Let me re-phrase then. One made a blanket statement that could be considered derogatory against an entire religion. One made a comment about a single person.

 

I can't imagine , though, that Muslims weren't bothered by the comment regardless of how loud they proclaimed it.

I would find Behar's comments more offensive though because she was making a generalization about gardeners and made the comment out of spite. Juan was expressing his nervousness.

She says idiotic things. If someone keeps doing idiotic things, I think its safe to say that she becomes what she preaches.

But when there are offensive statements made, in one case, about a group and the other about an individual, there seems to be no link. Is it because the extreme lefty, Behar, attacked someone on the right? Was Juan Williams fired because he was politically incorrect and Behar is not fired, because she is on the correct side of PCer's?
