Is corbin thinking about playing Rockcastle? I think they wil have some open dates. I remember we had some great games with them. who does corbin even play now? Are they playing Harlan Co?

 

Coach Jewell stated in the article that Corbin's schedule is already filled for the next two seasons. I'm not sure who is on it, but my guess would be the four district opponents, North & South Laurel, Pigskin opponent, LCA & Middlesboro. I'm not sure about the other spot, but they may owe Danville a trip to play in their bowl game, which would complete the schedule.

Sommerset, if nothing has changed, is already in the rotation with Clay Co., Lynn Camp, and Knox Central in the Pioneer Bowl. I would love to see Knox Central play Whitley and Corbin in alternate years in the Pigskin. Guarantee KC will bring the crowd!

Why would corbin play North and South Laurel and not Rock. It would be a better game. has either Laurel school ever beat Corbin? Why do teams who continue to lose keep playing those teams? Corbin should step up their schedule adn play a lot of big boys, teh only team in the Dist is Bell, the rest are easy wins. Maybe this is why Corbin always has such a good record, easy games.

Corbin and the Laurel County schools play each other in every sport and Corbin and South Laurel are rivals in every sport, plus South Laurel beat Corbin something like 4 times in a row not long ago. Maybe they will play Rock, I don't know, but Rock is not the Rock they used to be.

 

Corbin plays a pretty good schedule, including games against 2 defending state champs in Boyle Co. and LCA. They also played a very good Hazard team and a good 6A team in GRC.

But every other sport but football has like 30 games to schedule, so teams have to be careful who they schedule with only 10 games. Why would Corbin rather play the Laurel schools over Rockcastle? Please dont say travel time for fans or busses.

According to today's News Journal, Whitley has had the contract for a couple of weeks without signing it. Knox Central is in, Somerset is still considering and Whitley Co. is the other team offered to play in the Pigskin Classic. The Varsity Club stated that they will have to offer someone else if Whitley or Somerset do not sign soon.

From what I understand the administration at Corbin wants the series and they want to continue playing the Laurel Co. schools as well, but Coach Jewell may be the holdout on a home and home with Whitley. I really don't know why he does not want a home and home, have heard it may have something to do with the Whitley AD.

This game will be a great money game for both schools if they can do a home and home.. Both coaches are quality and so are both programs.

Can't imagine what the Whitley AD would have to do with them not playing? If Jewel is fine with playing Whitley at Coribn in the pigskin, any issue with Whitley's AD shouldn't prevent them from playing at Whitley. If I understand correctly, Corbin would get Whitley at home twice and only have to go to Whitley once. Sounds more than fair to me.
