October 18, 201016 yr I still think Bama play's for the national title. JMO. I agree. I think the winner of Bama/Auburn plays for the national championship. I'm thinking Les's luck @ LSU runs out this weekend.
October 18, 201016 yr I agree. I think the winner of Bama/Auburn plays for the national championship. I'm thinking Les's luck @ LSU runs out this weekend. Yes, Miles has dodge the backball enough. Leaning on luck wont get him a win against Auburn.
October 18, 201016 yr Yes, Miles has dodge the backball enough. Leaning on luck wont get him a win against Auburn. With Auburn, I just don't see that they have the defense to win the whole thing. Having said that, their offense is as potent as any in the country. And from where I sit, they have the Heisman front-runner in Cam Newton.
October 18, 201016 yr Boise State gets little respect for a #1 spot when the TV talking heads discuss the BCS, but they have gone head to head with the 2 teams ranked above them in the 1st BCS rankings and have beaten both in the last few years, Oklahoma in the bowl game and Oregon in last year's game. It's not like they can't play with the big boys. But there's always a shadow of doubt when everyone talks about them being ranked #1 I guess because of their schedule strength. But they have proven they can win big games. Amen Professor, I was getting ready to post this same thing. People and pompass jerks like Mark May can put Boise down all they want but the FACTS are that Boise has beaten everyone they have lined up against with this team and program. This Bronco team has 21 of the 22 starters back from last year and these same players were there the year before. Boise has beaten every "big boys" program that they have played in the last few years including bowl games and BCS games. Problem is that no one will play them. No one (and I give Oregon credit on this) will go to Boise on the blue turf for a home/home series. Coach Peterson is as good and probably better than any coach in the country. On a neutral field Boise has proven that they can beat anyone, and have beaten the power ranked teams. I believe that Boise is not just a good team, Boise State is a good football program that desrves far more respect than they get from eveyone. Bowls are about $$ and the big names, (which Boise now is now and no one wants them to be), have more money and can bring more fans through the turnstyles, spend more money in the paticular city that the bowl game may be in. I don't believe that Boise will have a shot at the championship game regardless if they run the table the rest of the way out and imo that is not right. I wish they could get a game with the national champion this year a week or so after the NC game but that could never happen.
October 18, 201016 yr Sooners/Mizzou and LSU/Auburn play each other saturday, Bama could move up two spots if we can handle the Vols in Knoxville. Bama has imo a very good chance to move up substationally in the poll. Bama has yet to play LSU or Auburn and those two still have to play one another. Depending on how things fall Bama could very well be in the NC game.

October 18, 201016 yr The Gators have been really good the last two years. Should we give them extra points for that in this BCS poll? They were ranked 22 going into last week with one good win - Kentucky at home. Let's be sure that big time programs get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to rankings. Florida State and Penn State recently come to mind. And considering ranking constitute 2/3 of the BCS formula, then past history certainly does affect BCS rankings.

You call people like Mark May pompeous jerks, but that's just because they disagree with you. Boise is a good team, who plays one or two solid teams a season, almost always the 1st couple weeks of the season, and then coasts to an undefeated season against competition that would make UK look like BCS title contenders. The reason they won't and don't deserve to play for the title is because they face no tough tests after Oct. 1st. They have all offseason to prepare for the one tough game they play each season. If they had to face any of the BCS conference schedules (outside of the BEast), there is no doubt in my mind they'd lose at least 1 game every season, probably more.
October 18, 201016 yr ^ It is hard to play more of the good teams that you speak of when they will not scheduloe you. I don't blame them really, if I knew I would be picked above them then I wouldn't take the chance on playing them and lettiing them prove they are better.

You have nothing to back up the whole "prove they are better" theory. Playing one or two games a year against good teams, yeah, they can compete. If they had to do if for 10 straight weeks like all the major conference teams do, they'd lose multiple games every single year. They don't deserve to play for the title, until a) they move to a BCS conference, or b) they go independent so they don't have to play garbage teams. I mean, if Toledo would go undefeated, should they have an arguement to play for the National Title in your eyes?

I call Mark May a pompass jerk bc he is that even when I do agree with him so you haven't read my mind as you think :irked:. May thinks that he invented the game of college football Heck, he is even more irritating than Billy Packer and that takes something. Also you said they couldn't go unbeaten in a power conference or they don't deserve to play in the NC game. Maybe they would or wouldn't go unbeaten, what I am saying is that in a one game, neutral field scenerio Boise could play with and/or beat anyone in the country. C. Peterson is one of if not the best coach in the country, just not many people get to see them play (t.v.) week in and week out. Besides being very well coached Boise is loaded with talent, great defense and K. Moore (qb) is maybe the best in the country, certainly one of the best. They also have excellent rb's and recievers. Again, Boise is like one of these mid majors in college b.b.......no one will play them. Edited October 18, 201016 yr by oldrambler

So, I guess we're even by your theory, uh? :walk: I'll start working my top 10 and post it later. Boise may or may not be #1 but I do believe that right now they in my opinion will be in my top three. This is he first BCS poll of the season, things no doubt will be changing.
October 20, 201016 yr Here is my top 15. I didn't necessarily go on records. just on where I would rank them right now. As the season goes on this will no doubt change. 1 Oklahoma 2 Boise State 3 Oregon 4 Auburn 5 TCU 6 Alabama 7 Michigan State 8 LSU 9 Iowa 10 Wisconsin 11 Ohio State 12 Oklahoma State 13 Texas 14 Mizzou 15 Florida State
October 20, 201016 yr State will have a tough game at Iowa, but if they win that they should go undefeated. I agree they will be an interesting team to watch. If there is one thing that MSU football is good for, it is laying multiple eggs through the season.
