For example, if a hold occurs on the right TE, and the running back went off his tail and this hold sprung the play then it has to be called! However, if the play goes around the right side, and the left TE holds, then you don't throw the flag you do preventative officiating and talk to that TE letting him know that you saw him holding and to correct it!

NO EGO, don't get in a battle of wills or knowledge with a coach, be honest, have tough skin, act professional, give warnings when you have had enough.

Officials should be cautious. It's against KHSAA policy for registered officials to give comment on rules, mechanics, or that which is officiating related in online forums (as much as some of us would like to do just that).

I had an officiating class in college as an elective. That was pretty much the golden rule they preached in it. To have a safe game and what you said.

FB rules is right. The online forum is not a good avenue to voice opinions for registered officials in their sports. Seldom do you see me posting in my registered sports.

What makes a good official? I think back to the movie Field of Dreams when Moonlight Graham( Burt Lancaster) is going to the cornfield after saving the little girl from choking. Shoeless Joe Jackson ( Ray Liotta), yells at him, " Hey Rookie, you were good." If a majority of every coach, player, fan and most importantly, your fellow officials thinks that about you, then you have been a good official.
