May 30, 201313 yr I'm in on Starbucks as well. :lol2: Lets check back in about a year and I'm confident it will be double digit increase. When did you get in?
September 11, 201313 yr I just read last night two good long-term buys. Motley Fool recommended Google & StarBucks. The article said that both stocks have obviously done very well in the past/present, but their long-term growth remains appealing. For example, Starbucks has already entered China and expects to triple its presence in Asia in the next 5-10 years. Here's the actual article: 2 Stocks to Buy Now to Hold Forever (GOOG, SBUX) SBUX up 1.79% since I posted this. I've made slightly over $16. I'm in on Starbucks as well. :lol2: Lets check back in about a year and I'm confident it will be double digit increase. When did you get in? Sounds like it was around the same time, I'm up like 1.5%. So far so good. Sitting at $74.790 now. Up 19.27% from my purchase around 6 months ago.

June 4, 201412 yr I've been looking into getting into some stock investing for quite a while now. The only non-401(k) investment I have is the P&G stock my parents set up for me when I was a kid. How much ($$) would you guys who are more familiar with it say is the right amount to have together before opening an account? 1K? 5K? More?

If you mean "right amount" as in "I have other savings for emergencies" then it doesn't really matter. It's allow about growing what you have. The only limit would be the one placed by the company you use to trade. Some will have minimums.
June 10, 201412 yr Author AAPL split is now in effect. Stock went up 2%. Investors love a stock split even though it makes no sense mathematically.
June 10, 201412 yr AAPL split is now in effect. Stock went up 2%. Investors love a stock split even though it makes no sense mathematically. The lower price is more appealing to the average investor. Like you said it makes no sense but it works.

If you don't have enough initially I'd wait till you have close to $1,000 to purchase anything due to the cost of the trades.

The article talked about how investors like to buy in round lots of "100." Doesn't make sense. I once bough 1 share of Google and 1 share of Berkshire Hathaway. Worked out. My money grew.
