I agree, for this season. If the Reds are going to make the leap from NL Central contenders to NL/WS contenders then Hernandez/Hanigan are not the answer.

 

Devin Mesoraco is the everyday catcher in 2012, if not sometime in 2011. Hanigan will stick around as his backup.

I know it's not popular. And I know Votto poopoo'd the idea. But if he would be the everyday LF'er, and with his improvement at 1B I see no reason he couldn't be a fantastic fielder out there. He'd be a shoe-in as an all-star for many moons. We would solve that issue and give the kid Alonso a shot over there. Just one guys opinion. I know we've been down this path before. But Rose did it.

Honestly I'm not convinced that Alonso is worth moving Votto from first.

Why the Reds are at it why don't they have the Diamondbacks throw in Reynolds so we can have 7 position players strikeout 100 times.

 

On Bruce, I think the guy has 40 HR potential. Next year will be his breakout year.

I'd be willing to give you Matt Kemp for one of your young pitchers and Alonzo.

This team has had more than it's share of high strikeout guys. I would be willing to give up a little power for a guy with a better OBP. This team needs guys on base for the RBI guys not solo HRs.

He is only three years removed from the aluminum bat and is starting to show some line drive power with 31 doubles and 12 HRs. He also only struck out 76 times in 2010 with a .355 OBP. I know this sounds a whole lot like Sean Casey numbers but I think he will hit more HRs in GABP.

Power is usually the last thing that is developed in young players. He had a great second half the the season last year in AAA and I think that's when he was finally 100% after breaking his hand the year before.
