Bengals defensive back Adam Jones was handcuffed and detained but released without being charged with a crime or arrested Sunday afternoon, stemming from an auto accident near Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati Police said Sunday night.

 

The incident, in which Jones, 27, drove a silver Jaguar onto the sidewalk near the Reds ballpark, led to Jones being hand-cuffed by officers, police said.

 

There was an outstanding warrant on the license plates, police said.

 

A witness said Jones’ car swerved to avoid the car in front of his and jumped the curb onto the sidewalk.

 

From what I've gathered, Jones was behind a car which was driving erratically and then came to a sudden stop. Jones swerved to avoid the vehicle and part of his car ended up on a crowded sidewalk.

 

Not defending the guy, but it sounds like this time he was the victim of circumstance, or more likely, being behind a drunken idiot Bengals fan leaving the game.

Considering that almost all Cincy cops work Bengals games, I'd be utterly shocked if they didn't know him.

 

I didn't say all, I said almost all.

 

And I know because a Cincy cop has told me as much.

I know and have worked with quite a few Cincinnati police officers (far more than one, trust me), hardly any of whom work Bengals games. It is a department of well over 1000 officers. No way, shape, or form do "almost all" of them work Bengals game. Your one Cincinnati police officer acquaintance misinformed you.

Mistaken identity? Come on everyone, especially cops, know what Pac Man looks like. I'm not buying that excuse for a second, if that's really the case.

 

I'm a huge Bengals fan, but I don't think I could tell ya what Adam Jones looked like.

New info: Dusty Baker had called PacMan at halftime of the Bengal game. Not sure of the status of Orlando Cabrera, Dusty said he would add him at the last minute to the roster as a replacement to pinch run in the late innings if necessary. PacMan jumped at the chance considering it is his best chance to participate in a playoff game.

I work for the Bengals when they're in town as a marketing rep, so I'm on the field quite often during the games. While on the visitor's side yesterday, I saw more than a handful of players (including Roy Williams, Chinedum Indukwe, Morgan Trent, Leon Hall, and Jerome Simpson) come up to several different police officers that were around me and speak with them and call eachother by first name during warm ups.

I may have missed it but who owns the car?

 

Adam could of been the owner. This has been happening more and more across the Commonwealth lately. The state has decided that it would be a good idea to re-use old license plates that use to belong to another owner. It shouldn't be an issue but what the state of Ky isn't doing is erasing any prior info from the plate that could date back 20 years. This just happened to my brother over the summer and I even asked a county clerk about this and she told me it is possible for 2 or more vehicles in the state of Ky to be issued the same License plate # but as long as it has a different county they will use it. Sad actually!!!

This might not be the case in Jone's deal but if he has a Ky plate, than more than likely this is what happened.
