Simon Kenton is trying to become a Trinity, or St. X.

 

Both schools have such a tradition of winning that a kid might play all four years and only be on kick off return. However, that kid will always talk about those four years on kick off return.

 

Simon Kenton is trying to become a school will be able to have kids like that. They eventually want to become a place that a kid will tell his kids, he was the right wing on the kick off return team that went to, or even won state, like is said for some kids at Trinity, or St. X. I know it's a stretch, but with the recent success at Simon Kenton, I know that this is a goal they want to build on.

 

I'll agree, that is SK's goal and it has been since the first time we played Trinity back in 2001. Coaches and players saw what it took to be the best. They saw the numbers, the facilities, the athletes and the tradition. There isn't one component that makes St. X or T good but it's their over all body of work and THE PROGRAM that they've built; however we could say it's just numbers and get about 10 of them to post in here in seconds lol.

SK has a very good kicking game, however many times they catch a team off guard by lining up the entire kicking team opposite their QB Chad Lawrence if Chad likes his match up they direct snap it to Chad and he runs it in...It's usually very successful but it failed one time last night as Chad dove for the pylon and just came up short...Theirs a name for this play but I can't remember it...I've seen Herald the SK kicker hitting 50 Yard FG's before the games

 

Swinging gate is the name. My favorite play from this is the direct snap to Carroll, I don't know if that's ever been stopped.

Sage Powell delivered a pretty hard hit on Brady on this play. Not sure if Powell was trying to hurdle him or what?

 

This was the play on the SK sideline that got all of the fans cheering, it was hard to tell at first but now I've pieced it together; Powell got the first down by delivering the hit rather than receving one.

Why was Sk going for 2 on all those early scores? No kicking game?

 

We also discussed that last night, SK kicked two succesful FG's last night, but the only thing I can think of is that they want to be able to go for 2 when it's convenient in the post season and there's no better "practice" than in a game. Also keep in mind that Marksberry wasn't coaching last night, but based off of the play calling he might as well have been texting the plays in to the team, kicks included.

Cooper got out played and out coached ! SK played a great game no way Ryle will beat them if they play like that. IMO Cooper looked lost out there I also seen a coach push and slap a kid on the side line . They better be glad that wasnt my son , I would have jumped the fence on that one . Maybe if Borchers had some older coaches insted of collage students the kids would respect them more ! Looks like to me they need to start taking some of the blame instead of yelling at the kids on the side line >

 

I would love for you to find a staff that doesn't have a c-o-l-l-e-g-e student on it. Most of the times, these are coaches that you want. Younger guys who can relate to the kids and bring in new ideas to the staff.
