With all the success of the Highlands program over the last 16 yrs during Dales tenure and all the State Championships to show for over the history of the program, the National Rankings, the near Mythical National Championship last yr, has Highlands fans now taken over control of the BGP HS Football threads. Numbers dont lie and success and titles speak for themselves, but has BGP turned into a Highlands vs Highlands site? Seems like the only team that is going to beat the Birds is the Birds and folks on here are looking for angles to drum up debates and question the Highlands teams of past and current. Just wondering if its just me or anyway the site could be changed to

Not so fast my friend. I have a sneaky suspicion that Highlands will be dissed and dropped to #2 in 5A this week after the polls come out. Like I said in another thread, just what Highlands needs is someone doubting their ability, more locker room material, more incentives, reasons to work harder on and off the field. But then again the only number that means anything to Dale and the Birdnation is 20n10.

Did the Cincy X game last year being nationally televised , make that much difference between this years team and last years team ? How about coach Muellers National Coach of the year award , did that add more hype to last years team ? This years team is undefeated and has beaten strong 6a contenders and some by a lot of points.

 

This years team is undefeated and going for their 4th state title in a row .Has the local news media even interviewed Dale this year ? Are people in NKY getting so use to Highlands winning that it has become automatic or boring. There are great players on this years team. I just don't understand the lack of media coverage , and the fact that Coach Mueller hasn't had much coverage as in the past . Is it Dale or the media keeping things quiet ? Any answeres ?

There are what, two dozen schools in NoKy? Probably three times that many in the Greater Cincy media's Ohio coverage area. Maybe a half-dozen more in Indiana. When you keep doing the same thing over and over -- like HHS has -- it's just not big news anymore. Especially when you consider how Cincinnati looks down its nose at NoKy in all things, especially football.

To answere, my bad, answer your question, I'd have to ask one; what do you expect?

 

I've seen quotes from Mueller in the Enquirer following the Ryle, Beechwood, Withrow, and Boone County games. That's coverage with quotes in four of their six games this season. The only exceptions would be the two Louisville opponents, and there may have been coverage of the Manuel game, I really don't remember. Mueller was quoted on a couple topics in the Enquirer preview issue as well, and there was a pretty comprehensive preview of the Ryle game, with quotes. What more could you want?

There is a ton of local media coverage. Last week there was a picture on the front of sports just over the article on HC-Conner and there were two more pictures with an article in the later pages. There are teams other than Highlands to cover in the area.
